I picked up a Cobra WOLF cheap on eBay a few months ago, and I was really happy with my find until it arrived in the mail. The plastic was so yellowed it looked disgusting, and the stickers were all black with dirt. The thing looked like a typical garage sale/thrift store piece of !@#$. Tossed it in a box and forgot about it.
But recently I decided I wasn't going to give up. I took it out, pulled off all the misaligned, filthy decals, scrubbed it clean and then took it apart. Took the white outer part and gave it a healthy spray coat of a matte white primer. While I was at it, also cleaned and primed a similarly nasty tactical battle platform. Result? Flippin' fantasic! These things look brand new and stunning. It's a shame I have no stickers for them now, but it barely seems to matter. They look better than new. I think I may get the repaint bug now. I'm thinking of all the cool variations that are possible. Black and red crimson guard variations for both of these guys, and maybe a white "ice from above" winter version of the Conquest or something. So many possibilities. And since TBP's are sometimes available cheap, though incomplete, I can see the appeal of doing one up as authentically as possible, in gunmetal grey and with lots of rust and weathering.... Law (sorry, no pics, I suck, I know) |
