Sting Raider

Someone on here had told me that I missed a great toy shop on my last visit to Greensburg, PA. So today we loaded up and went back down there. Behind the mall I found a strip mall with a sad gaming shop and a place Cash-in Culture that was pretty good. They had several pegs of Funskool MOC and some VvV MOC but nothing that was exciting me. But under glass they had a manta ray looking Cobra sub that looked great.
I had them hand it out to me. Complete with excellent sticker placement. The pieces were still tight. The Eel was included.
Not bad for 10 bucks, so I just had to pick up the Sting Raider.

This has been a fun toy this evening. I can't get my ROC Viper Commando or Destro into the pilot's seat, but the Eel fits snuggly and looks good in there. Fun shape. Nice pinchers. Missle launchers shoot well still.

Just thought I would share. I hadn't seen these before. I'm sure they're fairly common, but I missed them on the shelves.

Looks like they are reissuing this as the Mantis Attack Craft for the ROC line. Maybe it will be slightly retooled to fit more ROC characters, and it looks to be in the $16 line of vehicles.

It'd have to be retooled. The one I picked up wouldn't let Destro or a Viper Commando in. I tried. The Eel pilot was thinner feeling than the other characters, but that was before I picked up the mess of Sandvipers so i'm not sure.

But to let ROC in they'd have to make the seat different and probably widen the entire cockpit.

It is a cool toy. They should have named it something different, but it is a cool toy.

It still reminds a bit of a Star Wars Gungan sub.

I do like the colors better on this one than on the one that is being released under the ROC label.

I saw one of these at a Fred's-That-Time-Forgot not too long ago.

I have one of these. I think it's actually one of the cooler looking VvV vehicles. Glad to see it making a return.

I love the OG Sting Raider. I have 2 and need 2 more. VvV did have some great looking vehicles if nothing else. Most of the figs were absolute garbage. Take the Eel that came with that Sting Raider for perfect example.
