When I first heard the audio, I thought maybe Mr. Rudat was a bit vague in remembering this small bit of info from a long time ago (any many figure designs past). But the sculpted 2-fingers seems to confirm a cybernatic arm.
Later Hasbro designers weren't necessarily consistent with that design aspect, as it was never played up in the media of the time (comics, filecard, cartoons). Of course, previous history didn't stop later designers from changin up characters (hair color!!!). I don't know when the audio was recorded, but this info is a way too late for most of us grown-ups--we all have our own ideas after all this time, and it's hard to change that. Personally, I'm in the armored arm camp, as such a sleek cybernetic design feels too anachronistic for the first two years for stuff, even for GI Joe. But it doesn't really matter, except that it was (and still is) a cool arm design despite the lack of elbow articulation. I hope the current Hasbro designers check out 3DJoes before designing a 6-inch Bludd. The lack of elbow articulation on the 25th was a big mistake. As Mr. Bozigian notes, the only reason it wasn't articulate was b/c of the restrictions of sculpt on the arm build of that time, and not because his arm wasn't meant to bend. I also hope that they retain the armored//robotic arm aesthetic. I shouldn't have to hope, but given designs shown for others, who knows what we'll get... |

I've always thought of it as a cybernetic/augmented arm; never actually picked up a Bludd figure during the 25th, so I'm almost completely unexposed to the rocket pistol. I just figured he got tired of injuring his knuckles punching guys to death and decided he needed something better for the job, then had the right kind of doctor replace/enhance it for him. That being said, the MTF Bludd I have just covers it up with his uniform sleeve. Less conspicuous that way.
