Hi guys I posted this under the U.S.S. FLAGG unite but wasn’t sure where I should post this. This is my first post and wanted to Hi. My son and I want to undertake a project together and it’s the Flagg. Looking for advice. I’ve found one for sale for $200. It’s missing most small parts. The seller says all the large pieces are there. (Tower,Deck, and supports) Is this worth the money? Is it very difficult to find parts and are there any reproduction parts available other than eBay? Am I getting in over my head? Any advice welcome! I thought I would go to the people that know. And knowing is half the battle! Thanks Jason

Hey man, welcome to the tank. Depending on condition I would say that price isnt bad at all I just watched a deck sell for more.
As far as repros there is a ton out there. You can even hit up a fellow tanker here who has been doing some really nice 3d prints. Heres a link to Zap's page http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...+printed+parts

I can personally attest to the quality of Zap's work. Hit up Toyhax.com for replacement decals. Just for reference a complete Flagg would run $1000-$1400.

Thanks for the help. Not to worried about the pedigree just wanting something that looks nice never for a resale or value. Value to me will be the time I spend with my son! If you have contact info for anyone that can help with parts can you send it to me. I’ll check into zap as well. [email protected]

I think retroblasting built a base unit for the FLAGG, which was made up by GI Joberg. You should check out their videos too. They show how they came up with the base. They also show how they made a floating FLAGG. It's in a later video.

My ears are burning!
I have a catalog of available reproduction parts for various vehicles in a separate thread if you want to have a look around: http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...ent-parts.html I can make custom bundles of only the parts you need and 'Tankers get discounts. My parts are pretty accurate but they will be printed in white in almost all cases so expect to do some painting.

Two hundred bucks for all the major components is a really good price, especially if there aren't broken parts.
But definitely make a list of everything that's missing so you go in with proper expectations as you could be in for another $500 to complete it. Here's one source showing pics of individual parts. For repro parts, check out Pro Repro on Facebook, as there are lots of creators on there, and you can get lots of stuff printed or cast in matching colors. (Not to take away from Zap, just giving options). Beyond that, just keep searching Ebay for parts assortments as sometimes deals will pop up. |

FYI the first video in Retroblasting’s series is him making a plywood base for the carrier. The base will give you room to store and launch ALL of the other Joe amphibious or sea craft, from 82-86, from under the carrier. It can be that little extra to do with your son to make it a real dad project. It’s nothing crazy. Yeah I like Retros verison of the base better. Joe burg had a great idea but used dimensional lumber for the inner walls, that is over kill. Retro used plywood for the inner walls. It looked a lot sleeker and less chunky, not to mention lot easier to cut door ways into. A single 4x8 sheet of plywood would do the trick. Joburg’s video of putting the carrier out to sea was awesome though!
