So I thought people might find this helpful who are assembling a Flagg & wondering which set of stickers to use:
I just recently built mine and would've loved having this knowledge! I originally went with Toyhax mainly because they come precut. However someone mentioned to me on here that the flight deck stickers from rattlers are much better quality I guess because they are on vinyl? Well I ordered a set of flight deck stickers from rattlerrepros so I could see for myself (his Flagg sticker set is not precut but the ones he has for the flight deck ARE). They came today and I saw virtually NO difference between his & the ones from toyhax. The ones from rattlers are on vinyl but it's such a thin vinyl and the difference is so subtle it's not worth mentioning. The two sets are pretty much identical in my opinion. I was mainly curious about the colors variation between the two but both sets looked the same to me. My main pet peeve about these sets is the yellow/white lines down the flight deck, the yellow is so muted it hardly looks yellow to me. I have the original sticker sheets that came with my Flagg & those yellow/white lines look awesome!! They really pop. I'm thinking about trying them but I dunno if they'll stick or not after 30 years. If your building a Flagg and don't have the original stickers just look at ones on ebay & you'll see what I mean. Anyhow both toyhax & rattlerrepros sets are in my opinion identical even though one is on vinyl there's virtually zero difference. Colors are all identical, neither set is as good as the originals. If your buying a set just go with Toyhax because they are all precut & again both sets look identical to me. I'm a bit disappointed that rattlerrepros deck stickers aren't any better than toyhax's but on the other hand I'm relieved that I don't have to re-do my flight deck. |

I bought my Flagg repro stickers from Cobra Stickers before they became/was bought by(?) Toyhax.
My deck stickers were not the same type of vinyl, sticker paper as the rest of the set. My deck stickers were not of the same quality as the rest of the stickers. So, I wonder if Toy Hax offers the same type of sticker paper as when it was Cobra Stickers or if there is some difference. Are the Toy Hax deck stickers the same shiny quality as the rest of the sticker? Also, since apparently you are an "old school" Flagg owner from BITD, were the original deck stickers of the same shiny, vinyl quality as the rest of the stickers? My Flagg set out in the garage too long and collected dust before I boxed it up that the deck stickers will need to be replaced anyway. I like that Rattler Repros offers just the deck stickers for purchase. Jason |

The original sets that came with the toy were all of the same quality, yes. Shiny, thick vinyl is how they came & the colors all popped or were really vibrant. Here are some pics I took of the original sheets:

As you can see the colors on the originals are very vibrant. The paper is also a thick type of vinyl, I would almost compare these original sheets to some old school linoleum flooring-though these aren't as thick as that they certainly feel close to it especially when compared with the modern replacement sets. The quality of the originals just can't be matched. They used a much thicker, heavier vinyl & the colors were awesome! Almost a fluorescent in some cases. The yellow + white lines of the replacement sets look nothing like the originals which is frustrating. I think that annoys me the most.
That being said when I bought my set from toyhax it all came on the same type paper, & all the colors were pretty much the same... not really a 'shine' to any of it. |

I'm glad I bought a set of deck stickers from rattlerrepros just to see if there was a difference. There is not. They are nothing like the originals in any way be it color, type of vinyl, etc.
They are basically identical to toyhax's set & one is not better than the other which is what someone had led me to believe. If buying an entire set just use toyhax, if only replacing the deck stickers go with rattlers as you can buy those seperate and are precut as well. I'm debating whether or not to try my original deck stickers, those yellow repro lines are really pissing me off lol |

I'll never own a flagg but wanted to say thanks to Brendan for posting pics of the one he assembled. This sticker comparison will no doubt be a reference for other's who want to purchase the flagg down the road. I have a few vehicles I want to restore stickers on (Condor, Avalanche, CUDA - I'll get the original APC stickers) so knowing the difference between the two major repro sticker sources is a big help to me as well. |

Thanks very much.
And I asked Ruben why his stickers weren't precut. This was his reply: Because of the vinyl materials I use they are not easy to precut but they allow the inks to transfer better. Also, the printer blades donĀ“t cut that deep because the vinyl I use is a bit more thick so that the ink doesn't come off that easy unless you scratch them deliberately and with a sharp object. This also keeps them cheaper and I have a lot of customizer clients that prefer to cut them out to fit better. This dosent make sense to me. His stickers feel identical to toyhax's sets. They aren't thick at all, they're thin like if they were printed on paper. The colors are identical and I really don't know what he's talking about. There is no difference whatsoever between him & toyhax. I bought his Flagg deck set to see for myself and I can positively say to all you out there in Joe land there is no difference! His stickers are exactly like toyhax's. This is the 2nd time I've bought stuff from Ruben & the 2nd time my stuff has arrived damaged. It's soo hard to get replacements from him for stuff arriving damaged. To me it's not worth it at all. He is nothing but a headache, please take it from me and just buy from toyhax. There Customer service is amazing & any time I have issues with stuff arriving damaged I just email them and they send me replacements out immediately at no charge. Both companies stickers look identical but Ruben=headache and toyhax=hooray my stickers came! Lol |

The paint was very flat and lacked that "pop." Plus there wasn't a glossy top coat like the rest of the set, which was my biggest disappointment. Also, in my experience with Rattler Repros, I've never thought that his stickers were any thicker than Cobra Stickers/ToyHax. In fact, I've thought that they were a bit thinner. I've had great results from both though. Jason |
