Hey gang.
I'm looking for wooden 3 3/4" vehicles/playset plans or sellers selling wooden 3 3/4" vehicles/playsets? I'm trapped in my closed head injury Mother's hoarder house. I haven't made much progress in excavating the hoard in my years of trying. I only get kidnapped by my best friend maybe once or twice a year for a weekend. We had our hot water tank blow this spring, and I was able to rescue my G.I. Joe vehicles & other assorted Star Wars from the basement. My figures are buried in the garage, and I imagine my weapons and accessories as well. My Father who passed away several years ago (which is why I sold my home & moved in to care for her) had limited himself to collecting Stormtrooper variants, which he had quite a few. When I was a child he made me several wooden playsets. The first was a space station. It was 3 floors had a large hanger on the bottom which extended out another 20% with a runway that folded up to it's full height. The second floor was the engine room. It had a pair of round car vents that acted as engines, with I believe a fusebox as the motor centrally located with a half inch wide plastic automotive grid acting as a wall divider along side it. On the third floor there was an overhanging round bridge with a top and a bottom. it had some wing nut kinda things for controls and a few switches, adorned with a couple eagles from trophies. A working elevator which was made of a cutout shampoo bottle ran along a narrow pipe between the floors, and had some fishing line and a washer on the roof to manually raise and lower it. On the roof there was a swiveling I believe wheel caster (minus wheel) which served as a turret. For most of its life a 60's GI Joe scuba handheld submarine thing, acted as its weapon. There was also up there a whisk that acted as an antenna, and what must've been a piece of tile designating a vertical landing pad. The launch pad on the ground floor had a probably 6 or 9 inch long thick "I bolt thingee" that gave the launch pad its elevation. When I became more interested in GI Joe boats, my Dad had reversed that "I bolt thingee" changing that folding launch pad into a dock. Unfortunately I'd left it for my "friend" to let his kids play with it during the year I'd rented the place to him & it was destroyed (I regret everything about having him stay there except my goodwill intentions). The second playset my Father had made me was a set of cable car stations. these were less elaborate and consisted of a pair of two story structures with a curtain rod between them. Riding on the curtain rod was a...it must've been a slightly modified tooth brush holder or utensil holder. It was attached to the expanding curtain rod by a sturdy almost carbine type metal attachment, and if one side was elevated it slid nicely between them. Very Where Eagles Dare. During my parents move to the condo my Father didn't think this piece was worth saving, and it didn't make the move. The third playset, was a vehicle. It's an awesome landing craft. It perfectly houses a hovecraft, or an assortment of land vehicles. There is an engine room (fusebox) behind that with a command bridge with (gear) wheel above that, and a lookout crows nest area on the roof. Out back there's an overhanging helicopter pad with a retractable boat launch (large enough for a small boat the size of Devilfish or Moccasin). Many U hook/staples form ladders on the front and back of the ship. The Front landing ramp is retractable, hinged and attached with door latches. This was the heart of almost every adventure I had since it was made. It is still complete and awesome. Due to the nature of the catastrophe of my living situation, I'm unable to take photos currently showing it in any of its glory, let alone stocked and equipped. I have tried tagging posts on twitter looking for wooden playsets or plans hoping that someone already distributing could take on another, but haven't gotten any...well anything. The toymakingplans site does some vehicles for 3 3/4" figures, some of which I really like, and if I had the ability/space/means to, I'd definitely build. But they haven't responded to any of my emails. I've seen photos of a super large wooden aircraft carrier thing at conventions (that the one dude told me he thought was foam but I don't think so). My Dad hit gold when he made this and I'd felt terrible not getting to share it all these years after his passing, but I became almost bitter that nobody would extend my looking for wooden 3 3/4" playset/vehicle plans builder/distributors pleas via twitter, when they were so willing to retweet every other gosh darn mention it seems of Joes. This isn't the last you'll likely hear about this landing craft, which I've named the USS Robert Henry after him. But if any contacts could be made, well it'd be swell. I should've come here first, but I'm casually vulgar by nature and usually avoid forums for every ones sake. |

Thanks for the responses. I've finally sent off a message to Sataninjaku, & drooled over that spaceport by Empire Toy Works (it'd become even more impressive in the years since I'd first seen it). I never heard back from any of the local woodworkers I tried to holler at via the facebook, & my "only" friend seems to busy to assist on this.
I'm hoping to get this moving along so others could have one or build one, be inspired by it or what have you. I need to create the space to even photograph it at present. My figures and accessories boxes weren't with my vehicles, So It is still something that I'm digging through, this hoarding thing can become quite obscene. Hope to have more to show and progress soon. |

SJuku does good work, I have one of his early builds and it is great. Even cockroaches won't outlive it.

Well didn't find parties interested in making one on their own. I'll showcase mine eventually, when I'm able to. As it was my most played with toy, I thought that there'd be at least a dozen or so others that'd want one, & maybe they will make there own after they see it. Thanks for the encouragement to get it presentable, hope to have some pics soon (gimme a month though). Yo Joe!

Looking forward to your work.
My brother in law has a CNC and he is quite handy with it. I wonder if there is money in prefabbing kits for people to DIY finish. |

CNC drill is a kind of programmable drill/laser/waterjet that follows computer instructions. They can follow programmable instructions, ie, do something very precisely over and over.
For example, if you designed a cool wood playset, it could be reproduced over and over with minimal work. |
