How many vintage moc GI Joe collectors are still around? I used to collect moc and misb almost exlusively.
After I stopped collecting and sold almost everything, I did keep my favorite items: a complete set of version 1 1988/89 Python Patrol. All 6 figures moc. Now I am thinking I might one day sell those too. This is not a for sale thread right now. It is more of an inquiry to see if anyone who is still regularly buying unopened vintage joes could please share some price estimates or recent sales data besides what I can find myself on ebay looking at completed auctions.

It obviously depends on the condition, etc. I'm in the UK, and a near-mint MOC Python Patrol figure would go for £70-£100, maybe a bit more if unpunched and truly mint. That might not be much use to you if you're in the US though! Obviously Viper is more popular than Tele-Viper etc. as a rule.

I'm not an expert on the years 1988-89, so neither of Python Patrol. My target are the main characters of the first two seasons of the Sunbow animated series, then years 1982 until 1985. Having said that, I agree with Dusty Ayers that prices are constantly increasing and also on the risks of collecting MOCs due to probable breaks of o-ring.
In conclusion I can say that you spend a lot of money, there are risks, but possessing figures from the early 80s still sealed in their bubbles and unique art design cards still gives great satisfaction. At least for me.

Yes, I agree with you both. Prices are continuing to increase. My original expectation was that these would still be around $50 each. However, ebay has shown me otherwise: that they are $100-$130 each in sold auctions. That increase in price is well above the rate of inflation. So it seems that demand is still quite strong for unopened items. That's surprising to see since this hobby has died down so much in the last 10 years. I thought many people had stopped collecting, but it seems enough people are still collecting unopened figures that they are driving the price.

We're seeing ungraded ones on ebay for well over what we both paid back then. It's nice to see the prices back up. Trooper: about $150 https://www.ebay.com/itm/1989-Troope...p2047675.l2557 Tele Viper about $100 https://www.ebay.com/itm/1989-Tele-V...p2047675.l2557 Viper: $100 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Cobra-Viper...8AAOSwDNRcfsQB etc.

The tele-viper is my favorite. Seems prices have been high for loose stuff too. Modern and vintage.
