I'm sure this just didn't happen to me when I was a kid when my parents or grandparents would ask me what GI Joe figures I wanted for my Birthday/Christmas/Kwanzaa/etc when I was a kid. Keep in mind, I'm an excitable manic 8-year old in this...
*Parent/Grandparent: DJ Maniak, which GI Joe guys do you want for your birthday this year? *Me: I WANT SNAKE EYES! (Like EVERY other kid in the country at that point) *Parent/Grandparent/Keeper of the Coinpurse: OK, what does he look like? *Me: HE'S A NINJA AND ALL BLACK AND HE HAS SWORDS AND AN UZI! The birthday rolls around, and I get an Iceberg figure.....:-/ I guess some things get lost in translation. |

first group of figures my parents bought me in 1987 were a Cobra Trooper, a Crimson Guard and 2x Snake Eyes V2. I wasn't impressed.

1986 saw bubkis released. 1987 was a mixed bag of mostly 1985 US releases like Flint, Footloose, Snakes v2, Lady Jaye and Tele-Viper and Crimson Guard, Snow Serpent and Eel, plus repacked re-releases of the Skystriker, FANG, Destro, Storm Shadow, Cobra Trooper, Stinger and Moccasin we'd got in 1985. 1988 was mostly US 1986 releases, but we got a repacked version of the WHALE with US style stickers, the Rattler and the Crimson Guard twins. It carried on through the rest of the line that we'd largely get stuff from 2 years prior in the US, but some other stuff mixed in. |
