For anyone who has the 2001 Brawler - how is the plastic compared to that of the 1990 Hammer? I had a Hammer back in the day and could never get around it's outsize proportions for the 3 3/4 inch figures. I do feel that it could fit in well with the modern era line. I am considering getting a 2001 version and replacing the missile turret with the gun turret on the original hammer. Just wanted to hear from anyone who may own the Brawler to compare the plastic quality to that of the original hammer and to see if the parts are interchangeable?

I got a Brawler last year in a trade, and I love it. Modern figures generally fit pretty well in it, though getting a driver in is a little bit trickier than getting figures into the passenger seats. It is a little bigger than, say, a realistic World Peacekeepers Humvee, but the stylized design helps me forgive that a bit. It's got a wider base than the PoC/30th VAMP, but is about the same overall size (not counting the Gatling gun turret, which is easily removable). I don't have the original Hammer to compare material quality to, but the Brawler feels about as sturdy as you could hope for. I have a gas tank and a couple flick missiles from the Hammer, and they are about identical in quality to those from the Brawler, and fit the same; I believe the tolerances are identical on both versions of the vehicle, so any part from one should fit on the other. The only bits that give me trouble are the gun platforms on the sides; I can't get them to detach (safely) from the running boards, so they're staying on for a while.

I've had one since the 2001 release, recently pulled it out of storage and put a bunch of my ME figures in it. They fit fairly well, only drawback with the Brawler as opposed to the Hammer is the lack of seat belt clips, but they're not really necessary for ME style figures.

I agree with what MagicWazard said, the 2002 Brawler which came with Heavy Duty is easily interchangeable with parts from the 1990 Hammer vehicle, and is made of a softer, less fragile plastic, but is strong and firm enough for rugged play wear without breakage.
The rotating gun turret with machine gun fits perfectly to replace the rocket launcher atop the roof of the Brawler. Shown here in these pictures, the 50th Anniversary 2016 Heavy Duty action figure is too large to comfortably fit behind the steering wheel, but works well with the gun turret. The 50th Anniversary 2016 Conrad "Duke" Hauser action figure fits without any problem, demonstrating how most action figures of comparable size would fit. As DJ Maniak said, it did not come with the seat clips, but the mold has the openings for them on each seat, so you could use the seat clips from other vehicles if desired for the Brawler, even though the toy is probably better off without seat clips.

Thanks for the info and pics. I really like the camo color of the Brawler and as some of you mentioned it is more in scale with the Vamp released in 2011.

The plastic breaks on the 1990 Hammer if you even look at it funny...

As a kid I always wanted a Hammer and I remember getting one as a teenager and just hating the sheer size of it - way out of scale. I was looking at my VAMP MK II from 2011 and again the size of it is not compatible with the 3 3/4" inch figures but it's a great vehicle for the ME figures. I feel the Brawler with its more forgiving plastic would be a quality substitution for the Hammer as a vehicle for my ME figs. |

LOL. Yea I am slowly getting out of the ARAH 82-94 run and am focusing on the re-releases of the classic vehicles/ 3 3/4 figures in the early to mid 2000s mostly due to the vintage figures I have been getting having cracked elbows/crotches. I was going to try and finish off some of the 1990 ARAH Joes but decided against it for those reasons. Sure enough the Hammer is from 90 and suffers from the more brittle plastic too.
