I bought an 83’ Gung Ho from a vintage toy shop the other day and when I got home I saw that there was a crack on the back of the left shoulder.
This got me thinking so I started to look at a few figs in my collection and I saw that a few had shoulder cracks but only on the back. Have any of you guys experienced this?

It's over rated. I would advise against it strongly.

If it makes you feel better, this issue is much less common than elbow cracks. |

Hello Hisstank!
I was wondering if there any any tips on how to prvent elbow cracks on vintage Joes. I find that every time I go through my Joe collection, I notice that some Joes have developed elbow cracks that weren’t there over the last 6-12 months. Any way to minimize this? Maybe storing arms bent vs straight? Using some plastic polish? Thanks! Sorry couldn't resist the pun.

Yeah those figures are awesome and I'd say it's probably the best ARAH versions of these three characters that we'll ever get. Back to back to back homeruns. To bad the films sucked. I'd love to have seen Hasbro redo the entire ARAH line up to that level.

If this were an investment, I'd be freaked the eff out. I'm just glad I've always stuck by my guns and just bought/collected for the sheer love of it. I had a bit of a flashback after yesterday's post, though, specifically related to Gung-Ho. While I haven't noticed cracking on the shoulder ( I assume you mean at the rivet, in a similar manner to the notorious elbows?), I have noticed that this specific figure and the '87 law are prone to shoulder separation, allowing for the lower arm to pop out or fall off.. I've had probably 8 or 9 GH through the course of my "tenure", and I'd say a third have had this issue to some degree, and though I haven't owned a Law since it was a new toy, I distinctly remember packing him up for a trip to the pool only to find that his entire lower arm had separated at the swivel without actually "breaking" and could be put back in place/removed. Back then, I considered it a feature rather than an eff up though!

As I get older and things like these arise, there's always the thought that I should dump my collection, and get out while the getting is good. I've already done that with my TF collection due to "spontaneous breakage", and my disc based games are regularly scrutinized for data rot (the cartridges should survive a nuclear war... I should probably buy a generator so I can play Super Metroid while the world burns down around me.)

I haven’t seen the separation yet that you mention. |
