I finally was able to pick up a complete Rolling thunder for a decent price. In great shape, except two minor things.
1) The windshield is a little foggy/cloudy. I soaked it in Dawn and brushed it with a toothbrush and it helped a little. Anything I can do to clear it up? 2) The main turret doesn’t stay elevated. Anything I can to keep it upright? I cleaned the whole thing, stripped it of the original stickers and ordered some replacements from Toyhax. Can’t wait to get it back together and put the new stickers on. Thanks in advance! |

I had the same two problems.
Foggy/Cloudy windows I buffed to a great shiny clear finish simply with toothpaste. The no elevating black cannon - I put a couple of strips of black electrical tape on the black part that is supposed to be the part creating enough friction to keep it elevated. Over the years the original area it simply wore out. Maybe it's not the best fix, but it is totally non destructive. Easy to remove if you decide something else. |

I will try both solutions. Thanks!

I think I used cloth from an old tshirt. It's a similar process to polishing your car. Bath cloth may be ok, but yea, I wouldn't go using a toothbrush!

What I have found that works the best is get yourself some Meguiars headlight cleaner. You can get this in the automotive section of any major retailer or auto parts store. Follow the directions this works great at removing minor scratches and totally removing foggy or cloudy looking surface grime. That's what I use. I bought my son some vintage vehicles and I did a Havoc canopy and it came out beautiful. I've used this method time and time again. Good luck to you.
