I was told by a trusted source that some guy in China had molds for this particular version and is making lots of them. I hadn't heard of this until last night and was wondering if anybody else had. I'm curious if this may be in part why my vintage SS I have listed hasn't sold yet. If anyone here could shed some light on this I'd appreciate it, Thanks.

Yup, I have heard this. Guess what molds were used for the Silver and Gold versions of SS?? You guessed it!

Not only SS. The bootleg Cobra Trooper mold is starting to surface again. Caveat emptor.

Thanks for the info guys, looks to my eye from these pics here that mine is definitely legit. Gold rivets in the elbows and says 1984 and Hong Kong on the butt.

Was this SS made from a pre-existing figure, or did they get their hands on the mold?
From what I always heard, we haven't seen any parts from V2 SE cause his mold was lost/destroyed, right? Man, I was so heart broken when I first found the tru commemorative SE/SS/Lady Jaye 3 pack used a V1 SE back in 1997, after seeing the V2 figure in the promo pics in Toyfare. I guess in 12 years since I should have sucked it up and picked up a vintage version by now ;) |

Not shiny, look to be worn and a dull gold color as they should be I'd think.
