Just wondering if anyone could tell me if G I Joe was sold in South Africa when they were first released, I mean the 3 3/4 action figures and vehicle series.
What other Countries had access to the toy line ? |

As much as it pains me to do this...
YOJOE.COM | G.I.Joe Action Figure Archive - International Figures Its not as pinpoint as to some years of release as it should be but it's pretty close, yojoe is a pretty decent reference tool, I just don't care much for the community. Please don't start bashing yojoe's boards after that post, or defending it, I base my opinion of the community there and my experinces with certain members. This is the best resource out there despite being a few years out of date now. Which is really sad to say for yojoe.com that they can't be a better resource than an out of date book. I think it's more that the current administration inherited the perfect reference tool. I was a long time follower of that site when it was still attached to a university server before the term yojoe.com even came into existence. That snobbish community doesn't deserve the resource they have and definately don't need to be credited with creating it. They treat it like crap. Last edited by Roshan; 06-07-2009 at 02:23 AM.. |

Actually, the "current administration" at YoJoe has spent hundreds of man-hours updating and improving the archives. They've added items, updated pictures, overhauled the WHOBIT, and generally worked their arses off to make it as good as they can. Are they perfect? No - but they're head and shoulders above what anyone else on the web has bothered to put together.
If you prefer this site and the type of poster who posts on these boards, that's your prerogative and that's fine.....but don't go running down other sites when it's clear you have no clue what you're talking about.....

I do know what I'm talking about. They inherited an amazing infrastructure, one that really has no equal in any other action figure line online. What did I say that was incorrect? Are you arguing that the international section is better updated than Ron's book? Cause it's not. I didn't say a dang thing about whobit or any other part of the site. But if you want to bring it up stuff I didn't mention like whobit, and it's improvement, how bout the half assed Sigma six section. Not only are there numerous figures not pictured, there's numerous figures not even named. The bootleg/knockoff section is a freaking joke that could be an amazing resource, but numerous attempts in the past to gather and submit information for it have been blown off.
You don't know how many times in the past me and others have offered to help out that archive and been turned down because of the politics of the place, shit that didn't happen a decade ago when the site was still young. I'm not running down the site, I'm running down the administration. And hell yes I prefer this site and it's type of posters, it's why I left yojoe years ago. Apparently that's what a lot of us have done given the numbers. But hey, all us tankers are brutish assholes so who cares what they think right? |

Ya know what forget it, this is just going to turn into a pointless flame war. I don't like how the current administration handles the site, you do. We aren't gonna agree. You can have your say to my response, but I'm done with it from here out.
Excuse me that I'm pissed about how a site is handled currently when I was freaking contributor to it before the forums on that site even existed. |

Yeah Yo Joe will be one of the best resources for foreign images, and bloodforthebaron.com for UK stuff. Yo Joe is great for 3.75 stuff. I don't follow sigma six or much of the other stuff. But parts of that site could use some updating. I've been a yo joe member for years too, but the community is smaller and once they broke it up between ARAH and 2000 and beyond they made it less fun in my opinion. Still an easy first step.
I would imagine that Action Force may have been available and then once that was incorporated with GIJoe maybe stuff showed up. But I don't think South Africa produced their own figures like India, Brazil, UK, Argentina, or China. |
