3D printing is on the cusp. Right now, the best repro parts are still casts, b/c printing just doesn't quite match the textures, but it's getting there. There are a couple of FB groups where you can connect with people selling repro parts. I picked up some repro antennas and mudflaps for a Mauler, as well as a repro purge valve and fantail railing, and they've all been top quality at probably a quarter to a third of the price of the real accessories.

...I bought a reproduction Sears 1982 Cobra Command Headquarters, not the SDCC version but a reproduction off of an original. It's very nicely printed, but the card stock is so flimsy it doesn't stand up without some support. I'm wondering if the SDCC version is a little more sturdy.

I'll check out fb. Not on there very much except to look at the cars for sale locally. I haven't bought anything from anyone on FB yet, mostly though because I haven't seen anything I really need or want. I've been thinking of trying the SDCC Cobra Headquarters because I was really disappointed with the repro one which was done well graphically. Just the card stock was quite flimsy so I hope when I do get the SDCC version it will be useable.

I hate to bump an old thread but I'm in need of some reproduction Mauler and Flagg parts myself. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm not on Facebook but it would be worth signing up for if I could get ahold of some quality reproduction parts.
Thank you |

Zap has worked on some 3D printed repro parts for the Flagg. He's got some pictures here:

Yup, I have the following reproduction parts available in my catalog:
Y-pin (2-pack) Deck clips (16-pack or 8-pack) Purge valve Mast cap Radar antenna tip (2-pack) If you need some combination of those parts I can make a custom product listing with the exact mix of parts needed. 'Tankers get a significant discount on the repro parts when you get a custom bundle. If you need a part I don't have listed I'm happy to model a new part if someone can provide me with a loaner to work from. Unfortunately, I don't have any Mauler parts available yet. I sold my Mauler's tow cable, both antennae, and my only gas launcher before I was able to model complex parts. I'm biding my time now watching eBay for a single gas launcher or a busted tow cable that's going for cheap. I don't think I'll ever see a cheap antenna though. I'm also modeling some Skystriker parts, a VAMP/Stinger steering wheel, and the ASP heat shields at the moment. I am planning on doing the Night Raven's air brake and possibly some STUN parts as well.

There is also a seller on eBay hotdogs_stuff that sells some repro flag parts. I've bought the crane engine cover and fantail rail. Even if he doesn't have any items listed, send him a message through eBay and ask him about products. That's what I had to do.

But I'm also hearing news of how people are using those 3-d scanning stuff to steal other companies tooling and sculpts, which will make the costs and incentives open to piracy like digital on the World Wide Web and complicate copyright in the 3-D printing and distribution community. ////////////////////////////////////////////////// ///////////////////////////// /////////// I think a lot of you know from me pointing it out, but Schleich has been trying for ages to remove the Walmart Adventure Force Dinosaur Explorer stuff that illegally 3-D scanned and copied the sculpt from the Schleich T-Rex and Gigantosaurus.
