I've restored 4 whales with only 1 of them having the ramp tabs intact so I came up with an interesting solution to the problem.
I noticed that the small nub on the ramp that attatches into the hinge was the exact size as the round opening in a small cotterpin from a bag of small sized ones I bought for a home repair project. I drilled a couple of small holes in the shell of the whale at the place where the hinge should have been. It was then just a matter of opening the end of the pin ever so slightly and easing it into the holes I made. I was pleasantly surprised at how easily the ramp opens and closes and the chrome of the pins looks kinda cool. I've attached a photo. This is the first whale I restored. As you can see there's 2 pins in this one. I misjudged the hole placement a bit and shoved a second pin in there to hold everything in place. That is a very great idea, plus those hinges should have been something more than just plastic from the beginning IMO. Same with the missile box rails. Or just something that didn't break when looked at funny. As the biggest issue with this vehicle was that it was more of a display model and less like a toy like it's suppose to be. momaw nadon |

I’ve restored a WHALE (see my link below). Personally I’d see what you can get for it on EBay to potential customizers and put that money towards an unbroken Whale shell. Just my two cents but if you want tor restore one, do it right or you may regret it. Feel free to hit me up with any questions.
