I've been hitting up the eBay a lot lately, trying to rebuild my o-ring collection of figures & vehicles again after deciding the modern Joes aren't going to be my focus. They just don't bring me the same enjoyment as the vintage do.
While most of the purchases I have made have been great, there are a few reoccurring things that are frustrating me: -Sellers will say an item is shipped and then take 3-5 days AFTER that to actually ship it. -Sellers have to be asked to leave feedback for me. I pay quickly and ALWAYS leave positive 5-star feedback for them upon receipt of the item. Why can't they do the same? -Shipping bait & switch. Advertising the auction with 'expedited shipping via USPS Priority Mail' and then shipping it FedEx Smartpost or some other ridiculously slow method. UGH!! -Canceling the transaction after I've paid. Three times in the past ten days I have had sellers cancel on me after paying due to "not having the item in stock." Anybody else having any of the above happen to them? On the positive side, a few sellers must have transporter technology as some of these packages seem to arrive overnight. I've added a lot of nice items back into my collection. I'm kicking myself for purging my o-ring stuff. Hopefully, lesson learned. |

Dunno about the rest, but I can tell you that eBay sends a "shipped" notice to buyers as soon as the seller purchases the shipping label. It has nothing at all to do with the seller taking affirmative steps to send a notification. So it's not the seller lying to you about when it ships, it's eBay giving you bad info.
Also, my post office takes anywhere from 8-36 hours to actually scan packages in if left at the desk or dropped in the chute. If I ever want something to show up as being in the post office's possession I have to wait in line and ask them to scan it in right in front of me. Usually it's in the 8-14 hour range, but it has taken even longer at times. My point is, "slow" shipping is not always the seller's fault.

I usually leave feedback after the buyer leaves it for me first. The transaction isn't complete until buyer confirms they received and are happy.

Ebay is the best resource for those who collect joes, especially for those who are beyond the ocean like me. But some things do not work well. First of all, sellers who do not leave feedback even with an immediate payment. Second: the costs and delivery times do not coincide. In the past I paid for priority shipments which then arrived a month later and I did not get any refund on these crazy shipping costs

The buyer's job does not end at payment. You also have to leave positive feedback to acknowledge successful receipt of the item as described. Until positive feedback is left by the buyer, the seller is left in danger of being defrauded by "not as described" claims (a relatively common and easy scam). I only leave feedback for buyers AFTER they leave feedback for me for exactly that reason. It will be a cold day in hell before I end up leaving positive feedback for someone who rips me off!

USPS calculator is not very accurate for international. Many times it will say priority when it can actually go 1st Class. I've asked sellers and they just dont realize it. There is a higher limit for 1st class when going international vs. The 1sg class limit for domestic.

Also, some sellers seem to just go in once a month and leave feedback in bulk. It's faster for them that way. |

Well, maybe I'm wrong but I'm left with my idea. If I pay immediately, I do not ask for any type of discount, I do not press to send the next day of purchase, at least for kindness, the positive feed is to be left immediately by the seller. I am almost totally a buyer on ebay, I never leave the feed if before the seller does not leave it to me. Having 100% positive feeds I think I'm entitled to some credibility on ebay. But I repeat, maybe I'm wrong.

All depends, if it is someone with 100% buyer feedback (meaning feedback left for sellers by them is 100%), or is a repeat customer, I may give them the benefit of the doubt and give them feedback after they pay. If it's someone who has minimal feedback or doesn't leave feedback at all or I notice them leaving bad feedback for sellers complaining about things, I will wait.
