I might have reversed it then. Yeah, it shows up in one, but not the other. You just have to copy the number when making the claim.

Hats off to any of you good sellers out there on eBay. I've only ever sold one item to get a coupon and have no desire to do it again.
As a buyer I've had plenty of great transactions. People refunding part of the shipping because it cost less than what was calculated and things being so well packaged that you could play soccer with it and it would be perfectly fine. Then there are others that lie about the condition of the items and things shoved in packages too small to save on shipping to pocket more profit. My favorites on the later is carded figures bent in half and a Rolling Thunder missile holder broken because of being bent and no padding around it. Those sellers both said I could return them but they wouldn't cover or refund postage. Neither of these cases were worth the hassle of fighting about. I just wrote them off as bad sellers. My last issue was a modern era Techno Viper. The first thing at the top of the page in the largest print said about 2 MOC Techno Vipers. Silly me I assumed that was the title of the auction so I threw a bid at it and won it. It came in the mail and I was pissed! Contacted the seller and they were very nice but I could tell they thought I was trying to scam them. Turns out it's something with eBay's mobile site trying to compare similar items. The desktop site didn't have it there. I tried to figure out how to make a complaint to eBay without hurting the seller, but apparently they make it pretty difficult to contact anyone to complain. I was so disgusted that I refused to even look at anything on there for months. Of course I gave in last week and made a purchase. |

So, for the second half of the story:
It took some time for the package to arrive. The seller's writing was almost illegible, so the Post Office delivered it to the wrong address. So I went through the process to get that sorted out, and then... Drum roll... Turd in a box. Got a little Chinese Souvenir coin thing. Filed a claim with eBay. Tried looking for the Paypal transaction associated with the purchase and nothing appears for it at all (???). Don't know what that means. I'm pretty sure the scammer knew it was a Knockoff so the listings get pulled down all the time. He used that to his advantage, it's much easier to scam when no one can actually link to the item that was supposed to actually arrive. |

That is odd. My brother also bought something from China once & when the seller disappeared ebay instantly refunded him.

If you can't see it in Paypal, then you most likely were not charged for it. I've purchased a few things from China over the years, and it's been a real mixed bag. And I mean mixed bag both literally and metaphorically.

Now I get an email saying “The seller has created a return label.” I’m trying to find the “fuck you” button. EBay makes it sound like they sent me the wrong color sock.

Longer update: I’m out $40. I cannot find how to report a scam to eBay. The deliberately make it impossible to report a scam or leave negative feedback, because the easiest way to avoid complaints is to just prevent people from complaining. I’m really, really angry at eBay right now, not because I got scammed but because they do everything they can to avoid acknowledging that I got scammed.
Then I went to PayPal. Holy shit. I mentioned before that I could not find a record of the transaction on PayPal. I saw that my checking account was billed, but no corresponding record on PayPal. I went to EBay and clicked “View PayPal Transaction” and it gave me an error message. So I spoke to PayPal and their rep made a bunch of excuses as to why they didn’t have access to the record of my transaction. —————- Me 02:21 PM I am attempting to locate a transaction record from an ebay purchase. I see the charge posted on my bank account but I do not see the transaction record on Paypal. Ann 02:24 PM If it is an eBay purchase, they would have the information for you. Me 02:26 PM They do not. I see a button that says "View Paypal Transaction" but it says my paypal transaction cannot be found. I don't understand how I have a charge on my bank statement but no transaction record in Paypal. Ann 02:27 PM We are a processor of payments so a lot of merchants use us to process payments These records would be available from the funding source you paid with Me 02:30 PM Yes. For the third time, I see the information on my bank statement but I do not see a corresponding Paypal transaction. My bank statement says "Paypal" but I cannot find the record on my Paypal account. If you are a processor of payments, I would expect that you would have a record of the payment you processed. Ann 02:32 PM The funding source doe not provide that information because it would be an invasion or your privacy. there usually is a phone number listed in the same line that could help Me 02:35 PM Paypal has no record of a payment Paypal processed? Is that what you are telling me? Because you just said you are a processor of payments. Ann 02:35 PM We are unable to access that information. Me 02:36 PM Wow. ————————— I couldn’t even figure out what to say. I can’t comprehend how PayPal could have no record of the transaction. Clearly they MUST have the records, but like I said before the easiest way to avoid complaints is to be as opaque and difficult as possible. |

Go to Ebay, click on Resolution Center at the bottom of the page. Then choose I received an item that doesn't match the sellers description and then it'll show you recent orders. Pick the one that is the issue and then go from there.
Paypal customer service is useless. It took them 4 tries to finally understand (and I'm not even sure they fully understood) that I was complaining to them wondering why Paypal took more money from me than what I received originally, when I refunded money to someone. This was for the idiot who somehow manage to purchase and pay for something they didn't want while their phone was in their pocket.

If that fails, I would call Ebay. Is the user you bought from still a registered user or is it just the auction that was pulled? In my case, when I got the money back right away, the user was de-registered by Ebay too so Ebay paid me back right away.

Like Night Hawk says, go to the resolution center on eBay, and you should be able to dispute it from there. If all else fails, you can dispute the transaction through your bank. My paypal account is backed up by a credit card (not a debit/check card). That way, I can dispute a charge easily, should it ever come to it.
A side FYI, from someone who works in accounting and the hotel industry...NEVER use a debit card at a resort or hotel, only a credit card. Your bank account funds could end up being held (unable to use) for several days after your stay if you use a bank card. |
