I posted a question about repro accessories last week, and it seems that casting arah accessories has already ran its course. So I had a thought...
I know next to nothing about 3d printing, but could I use the fss WORMS antenna, scan it somehow, and then 3d print it so that I had an antenna to use for an ARAH WORMS?

3D scanners aren't real common, and I'm not sure if any of them have the fidelity to capture the detail of something so small. It might be easier for someone to just model it from scratch in a 3D program.
As for printing it? Most commercial 3D printers--the ones that use filament extrusion--don't really have the precision to make something so small. Even my $2000 Zortrax can't quite pull that off reliably. Some of the newer resin-based printers might, but they tend to be even more expensive. That said, have you seen some of the stuff Zap got printed through Shapeways? http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...-vehicles.html Shapeways has access to the absolute top-of-the-line in printer hardware, so they could theoretically print something like that out if you had the model already.

I tried Shapeways a few years back and the best they could do was this fuzzy, porous stuff. Not good at all. Have they improved?

Wow. Those look great. I can’t remember what they were using, but it didn’t look nearly that good.

I agree. Those do look really good. How would he go about constructing them to be printed? Did he create them on a CPU program or did he scan something already made?

Zap uses Blender, which is a free 3D modeling package. I don't recollect if Ranchoth also uses Blender, but I'd guess that he is too. No scanning involved to the best of my awareness (that requires extra hardware most folks don't have). I use (an old version of) 3ds Max, which is a paid program.
