You've got to be kidding me. Has this figure's value really gone up that much? My daughter picked up one in good condition at last years Convention for like $8. I sold a mint one last year for $32. $190?? That's madness. Am I missing something here?.... |

I would have to think it was shill bidding. I had a Mickey CC that I sold for $75 with file card IIRC... so I'm confused too.

Something strange with the vintage is happening. Look at any listing regarding Zap 1982 complete. Here too, sky-high prices. But actually a CC 83 'at $ 190 is madness.

I've noticed the same with a lot of vintage figures in general. I think there are some phantom "sales" designed to bump up the price of some figures that certain sellers have a large stock of. When people view the "sold for" listings and think "Hey, the last few CCs went for $150, he's obviously worth that much and this one is only at $90 right now!" it helps the seller, naturally.
On a similar note, I had a rare Mighty Max figure from my youth that I sold online without realising it was rare. It's worth about £50, and they were regularly changing hands for around that. But the last few sold have gone for £500 all of a sudden, which obviously makes no sense whatsoever. It's clearly someone trying to artificially inflate the value. |

Ehh...I long ago took a modern CC added two dots of paint and now my shelf has a Mickey Mouse Cobra Commander.
Good enough for my selves and a lot less cash. Its a cool variant and if I happened to have one it woulda been cool to have but honestly Im fine with my custom. |

It’s amazing how many idiots bid on EBay, they don’t seem to realize it’s not whose winning five days out, it means nothing. It’s about whose winning when the bidding is over. It’s great news for sellers but these jackasses drive up prices needlessly.

We may be seeing the effects of an uncertain future for GI Joe. With Hasbro shelving the current line (with no idea how GI Joe will look when re-launched), it is not unusual in circumstances like these for aspects to suddenly increase in demand.

Or........since GI Joe is not being made anymore and is now on the extinction list, collectors and scalpers are starting to grab what they can for preservation or for future high priced sales.

I still think it's shill bidding.
