I started checking out my 82/83 Joe's and noticed I didn't have an 82 zap in my set up. I know I had one so I dug through my joe bin. Sadly, he was not there but I did remember having him in my spare parts box. I found two sets of straight arms. Sadly, both are broke. One set has both thumbs broken. My other set has the ball joints shoulder broken. Nowy question is there an easy way to get the robots out at the elbow/shoulder apart without damaging it and what do I use to replace it? Or am I just plain shit outta luck?

There really is no easy way to do it that I know. You would have to drill the rivets out and find the exact same size ones and a proper tool to put it on. The way the tool that I have seen works, it would just pull the jacket of the rivet until it catches and then breaks off the head. I do not know if you can buy rivets weak enough to not break the plastic but strong enough to hold it together.
Honestly, it would probably be cheaper and easier to just find a pair of arms to replace it.

One of the hardest vintage items to find is a straight-arm Zap with all thumbs/fingers intact. Many kids broke them right out of the package when they tried putting the bazooka on (even the corrected bazooka could cause breakage).
An intact right arm is much rarer than the left arm. Hopefully these will be one of the next things Black Major makes for replacement parts, he would make a killing for sure! |

It took me forever to get a good swivel arm Zap. I can only imagine how hard the straight arm one is.

When I was younger, I always preferred the swivel over the straight arm. I would place the straight arm Joe's in the ER so they wouldn't be used on the battlefield. It sucks because I had a mint straight arm zap and he was in Sandy and his rubber band deteriated over time and went to finally repair him, his arms snapped right off at the ball joints!! :(

I had the same thing. A set of broken thumbs. I bought replacements and then the chest collapsed into a few pieces. I replaced the chest and the new arms sheared off at the shoulders. The straight arm shoulder joints are a little thicker and have no slope cut into them. Apparently my replacement chest was a swivel arm chest version.
I lost track if I ever got a repaired SA version.
