I have a 1983 whirlwind that has been missing one of the gun covers which is the only thing from
making it complete. My question is this: on yojoe, it shows what appears to be two identical covers with two prongs on one side and a third on the other that clips into the whirlwind. On my whirlwind, one side can use the three pronged cover but the other side only has two clip holes meaning the three pronged cover does not fit. Was there a variant of the whirlwind that used two different gun covers? I’ve ordered 3 separate gun covers hoping each would be the correct one with no luck. Can anybody shed some light on this for me? Thanks!

I'd have to look at mine when I get home. I do have a few shells that have covers if you need one.

That would be great. Each time I order one it’s the three clip version that doesn’t work with my whirlwind.

They are both the same. You have to rotate it 180 degrees to put on. The AF version is much lighter color so it's a lot easier to see.

Can you take a picture of this? I'm wondering if it's factory error or there is a broken clip in there blocking it and making it look like there is no hole there. I've seen clips break so cleanly that it doesn't look like there is anything there.
I doubt this because of the age of the vehicle, but I've seen newer ones where the left over flash from the molding process covers the hole, but the flash piece is usually very thin and will break off when pressed.

Confirmed both sides have three pegs. They are a bitch to get the covers off too. I was afraid I'd break it, so I left them on.

Boy do I feel dumb. It was a flash piece that had never been punched through. Punched it now it’s good to go. Thanks guys, I’ll chalk this up to old age!!

LOL! It ended up being the scenario that I said would be the least likely too.
