I'd remove all the cannons, machine guns and rockets from the Cobra Ferret, and just make it a strictly recon vehicle. Maybe add a weapon rack on the back, and have it come with an RPG and Dragunov, just in case. I'd also take the turret off of the Rattler, put some protective cover over Cover Girl's head in the Wolverine.

We had the Toxo Lab growing up, which was alot of fun, at first. However, it was an absolute mess if used the way it was intended. If used completely dry as pretend, it was still sort of fun, but it was a bit small to be used as a base, and all the figures were exposed (a problem with a lot of vehicles: Wolverine, Triple T Tank, Sonic Boom Tank, etc).
The mudbuster was a vehicle I loved as a kid, but that baby blue was a horrible choice for a GI Joe vehicle, and more fitting for Cobra. We also had the Armor Bot, which was an giant awesome beast, but it could hardly hold figures. They should have engineered a way for several figures to catch a ride on him. Possibly a ladder going up the leg with foot pegs. |

Only problem I had with the Devilfish was the cockpit was too narrow to fit a lot of the later ARAH figures.
The Skystriker wings and wheels shouldn't be connected at all.

I always thought the Cobra Flight Pod would have been a lot better if it didnt fall apart every time I touched it. The figures also couldnt hold the controls unless the column was angled back, which made the gun point up.

1986 Tomahawk - I would have loved if figures could have been able to stand in the back of the Tomahawk and been able to "walk" out of the rear ramp.
1988 Tiger Force vehicles - These vehicles would have been so much cooler if they didn't just have different paint deco than the originals. If they had been changed a bit from the originals like Slaughters Marauders vehicles were with new weapons systems. Then they would of been newer vehicles than the originals and wouldn't of needed Tiger in front of every vehicle name just Sting, Paw, Cat etc. 1988 Night Force - Same as above.

Totally agree. I think even the designers knew that. Ever notice the angle of the picture on the back of the packaging? It makes the helicopter look so much bigger. If it really was the size as shown on the back, that would have been one of the nicest vehicles I think.

This bird would have been hands down one of the best vehicles scaled up :(

I would have to agree with everything listed in this thread. Though there are many changes I would have loved to see right from the beginning to the tail of the line, these few I think would have started and put Joes so high that I don't think any like would have been able to come close even to this day IMO.
1st: FLAK needed some way to transport it. It was a cool gun, but would have loved to be able to move it as everything in the early days have a tow hook. Also even know something minor as everything was a laser, would have liked to have shells and some form of action to the breach. Would have been 150% cooler if it would have been able to eject them or something like that. 2nd: Cobra Missile Command should have been something more than just cardboard PERIOD. Can I say more? 3rd: Fragile/brittle has plagued aircraft and some of the best vehicles right out of the box. Tail fins come to mind among other. Even the things that should have never been over looked, ie the Gantry of the Defiant Crawler. It was sad that you couldn't even use it as a kid without helping to lift it. If you chanced it, you gambled stripping the gears. Some were designed to be played with, as I remember back in the day My brother and I would get my FANG's blades spinning so fast that it would hover down softly to the ground. Though it was tossed across the room countless times doing this. Great tough vehicle despite the normal issues with it. I wasn't easy on it and I guess have been lucky it's still intact without restoration/rebuilding, though its not as shiny as my collector grade one. So would have liked to see more of the vehicles just able to be played with. Maybe not Tonka tough, but without the fear of it breaking the first week you opened it. 4th: Mamba IMO would have rocked if it was a Cobra version of a Hind. They made it large enough, it should have jumped out at them to be a gunship/troop carrier. Though this one fits in with so many other redesigns I would like to do/see. I will stop there though, as I could go on forever. momaw nadon |
