1991 Dusty V2 or Sci-Fi V2, not sure which came last.
I remember loving the chance to pick up those characters at the local Woolworth's since I missed out on their V1s. |

I'm pretty sure the last figure I bought from the original ARAH was Thrasher in late '86 or early '87. After that it was guitars and girls.

You missed the best years of Joe! Nothing was cooler than being in 4th or 5th grade when the second and third waves hit. Kids were literally smuggling figures of Storm Shadow, Firefly, Baroness and Destro to school in their backpacks because Joe was blowing up lol

I was getting old, but I remember I got a bundle of Joes for Christmas 1991. Got Battle Commander Hawk, Battle Commander Stalker, Sonic Fighter Zap and Sonic Fighter Major Bludd. I felt like I had full gone circle and I was happy with the "upgrades" for these guys. I was more of a collector, at that point.
For both Battle Commanders, I immediately used a tiny screwdriver to remove their gigantic backpacks. I liked them as plain ol' figures. Even that weird scowl on Stalker's face. I was working retail in the summer of 1992 when all the "Battle Corps" guys came out. I was tempted to buy a few, like Cross-Country or Iceberg...but saw that Hasbro was definitely gearing them more towards "toys" with spring-firing missiles and the focus wasn't on the "realistic" figures I had grown up with.

The last figure I ever bought or received as a gift or that I asked for was around March or April '89. I bought Lightfoot and Blizzard with my allowance money at the local Target by my house. I had most of the '88 figures but had gotten them all in 1988 save for Blizzard & Lightfoot. I lost interest in G.I. Joe that same spring and was getting back into the Real Ghostbusters line and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
I got a handful of figures about a year later in late '89/early '90 from a neighbor who didn't want them anymore. But I had zero interest in Joes by then and never played with them. Also, they were all missing most of their accessories save for a helmet or two. That bunch of figures if I remember right were: Strato-Viper, Gyro-Viper, Dress Blues Gung-Ho, TF Recondo, Darklon, '89 Snake Eyes, Countdown, '89 Payload, Gnawgahyde, H.E.A.T.-Viper and T.A.R.G.A.T..

Zombie thread action! The last figure I ever bought when I was a kid was Storm Shadow v2. However, when I was a junior in high school, my cousins from Virginia came to visit, and they were still heavy into Joes, so when we went to a local store I bought v4 Cobra Commander because I thought he looked cool and you could see his face.

Desert Scorpion and Crimson Guard Immortal. I wasn't even collecting toys anymore, at that point (having shifted focus to video games), but they looked really cool, so I decided to buy them and they were the final two of my ARAH collection. I didn't get back into collecting G.I. Joe until Joe vs Cobra.

The last Joe I picked up from the original run was "Navy SEAL Shipwreck." I had throttled way back on Joes after 1991 (maybe down to one or two a year, tops) but never completely stopped buying.

As a kid, I guess it would've had to have been HOF Major Bludd and Karate Choppin' Snake Eyes. They were on clearance at Kay-Bee because, at that point, the line was dead. I believe that was the summer before I started 5th grade, so I was rapidly approaching the "too cool for toys" phase. I even let some girl I had a crush on in 6th grade convince me that Goosebumps were for elementary schoolers, so I stopped reading those. Poor decision on my part.
Anyway, by 97, I didn't care and got to TRU as quickly as I could to pick up the Cobra Command Three Pack. I played with them a little bit, but, it wasn't quite the same, and I very much kept the battles in my room behind closed doors. The Real American Hero Collection hit when I was in high school, and I ate those up. By that point, I was a "collector," but I did sit down a time or two and play with the RAHC guys. It was fun. Today my "last" figures were Alpine and Bazooka until it bothers me enough that I still need Footloose, Mainframe, and Wild Bill to complete my "everyone who had at least 100 lines in the Sunbow toons" shelf.
