There had to be at least 10 million of Crystal Ball on the racks back then. And that was just in Cleveland.

I actually think those numbers are conservative for the line's peak mid-80s years. I would argue that some of the 85-88 figures each peaked out in the upper hundreds of thousands.
Given the sheer longevity of it, I think it would be safe to say someone like Hooded Cobra Commander was produced in the multimillion range. And I'm sure that doesn't count the secondary runs like later year repaints and the Hasbro Direct stuff. We still don't know whether Hasbro Direct simply did huge runs and sat on the stuff for years, or if they did runs of stuff every few years.

Vehicle drivers, mail-in figures, and special team figures like BF2000 saw fewer numbers than the mainline single carded figures. Even rarer are exclusives such as the Mission Brazil set.
Also, on a side note: there was some guy that decided that he was going to buy up all the 1985 Snow Serpents he could find in order to "test the market reaction" or something. Supposedly he accumulated somewhere in the tens of thousands, so that demonstrates that there must be a ton of them out there! Last edited by Dem_Yoe'z!; 03-22-2018 at 07:02 PM.. |
