As I have begun the daunting task of restoring a good portion of my ARAH Joe vehicles, I have noticed a trend. Some parts and pieces seem impossible to find. I use eBay, Gi Joe Junkyard and BigBoy Collectibles to name a few in order to track down most of my parts. I've even sought the help of fellow tankers on this very site! I also keep an electronic "needs" list on my phone in the event I come across flea market or toy show finds. Ultimately, there are just some parts that I seem destined not to find for these aging vehicles. Here is a list of my top five, hardest to find parts. Perhaps some of you have these lists yourselves. I'd love to know what your "grail" parts are. Here are mine:
1) Thunderclap Antenna 2) Mauler Long Antenna 3) USS Flagg Deck Railing ($85 on eBay does not constitute finding one) 4) APC intact seat belt 5) Cobra Moray (non-repro) search light lens. There are many more on my list, but these are the ones that plague me the most. I'm aware of eBay auctions for the deck rail, but $85+ constitutes not available in my world. What plagues you?

I'd agree with your top 5 list. Been having a hard time coming across an unbroken Fang copter roll bar, and tow rope for the Wolverine.

Rear gun and "light" assembly for 1987 Cross Fire RC.
I do scour all the same sites as you. As well as here on the tank and eBay. I gave up on the fantail deck railing for now or until I come across one in the wild. I have a Repro on there that suits me just fine. I've also had a relatively hard time finding the elevator base connector for the Flagg. I do keep a list on my phone that I keep with me at all times for a flea market yard sales thrift store antique shop finds.

Yep! Those 2 parts were in my top 5 until I came across a MIB Cross Fire at a toy show. Those are exceptionally hard to find!

The center wing to the defiant is also a pain finding unbroken or unyellowed. Speaking of the defiant the blue Gantry doors unbroken took a little while as well. I find it crazy that people are actually selling these broken on eBay for about a hundred a pop

Hardest parts for me seem to be the steering wheel for the Weapons Transport and crates from the Ammo Dump set. Other than those pieces I have been able to find everything else to restore my vintage stuff. I have never purchased any vehicles on the secondary market....not yet....

Man, just reading those lists brings back memories of when I had almost the entire line of G.I.Joe figures and vehicles and I had all those hard to find pieces. Back then, they were much easier to get. The only thing I know I never had though was the mast cap on my USS Flagg, although I don't think it's a hard part to find. I just never bothered to complete my Flagg.
One part that I still never had though was the antenna on ATC (UK version of the APC). I still have my ATC, but just never had the antenna before.

Speaking of antennas, I'll add the Weapons Transport antenna to my list. So:

Vintage parts aren't cheap! I parted out my nearly-complete childhood Mauler for more than the the going price to buy a complete Mauler on eBay. And I still have Mauler parts left... You guys might be better off buying a complete vehicle and parting out everything you already have from it just to keep the part you need.

I was sitting on two of those parts from your list a couple of years ago. I had both Mauler antennae in great shape (sold the set on eBay for about $40, IIRC) and I had a pair of unbroken APC seat bars (which I sold to a 'Tanker for around $15).
