It is low risk. But what about return? Like DePriest said about the 50th line at TRU, it was profiled but the resources were better used elsewhere according to Hasbro. There isn’t unlimited projects for Haslabs, they’ll probably pick ones for SW or Transformers before Joe because the fan base is larger meaning more return.
Don’t get me wrong, i hope it happens but then you run into what has already been mentioned, the Joe fandom gets splintered over O-ring vs modern, who to do and what version. It's not going to be some blockbuster new revenue stream. It's not even about that. It can crowdfund itself and it'll be profitable, but it would be done primarily as a nod to the loyal ARAH fanbase and Joe collectors who have stuck with them for 11+ years of Modern Era figures, especially after giving the Club a shot at it and getting us fairly close to completing the original ARAH lineup in spite of themselves. It's one of those low-hanging-fruit projects, where it's a low budget, low risk, crowd source initiative, and they do it to build positive rapport with one of their smaller IP communities that's languished through a couple mediocre movies and very little love from Hasbro. It's something that a Hasbro brand manager with some recent Joe experience and community skills could be handed as a side project. Here, go finish out the Modern Era line and give the community a sense of being part of making it happen. Make sure it turns a profit but make sure it also improves the perception of our brand with that loyal fanbase. It's really not that hard. Reading a few Negative Nancy posts around here in recent weeks, I am reminded that some here are extremely jaded, most people don't have experience with brand marketing, project management, or action figure production, and some people just like to talk out of their ass and pretend it's some sort of impossible mission when it truly isn't. This can get done. Get in contact with the right people at Hasbro, bend their ear and get them excited about it, help them pitch it to the checkwriters in a way that they can see the brand value, low financial risk, and reputational benefits, and it stands a fair chance of being greenlit. |

tbh, i don't care whether it's done through HasLab, another form of Kickstarter-esque crowdfund, some new Collector Club, a revised contract with the current Collector Club that ensures they complete the mission, or as an actual new wave of online or retail 50th figures. Someone at Hasbro should address the innate desire to complete what's been started, in this case what they started with Modern Era.

I have never been to Joecon and have only followed the modern Joe action figures off and on since 2007. Did Hasbro ever promise to remake all the ARAH Joes from 82-94? I know modern collectors want them and seem to expect them but did they make a statement of that as their goal? I hope they do. Simply because Joe fans don’t have much other then what the Club produces and they are seemingly going away. With today’s Kickstarter type funding, a project like the completion of the ARAH modern run should be more possible now then ever but Hasbro still holds the cards on that. Will they do it themselves? Will they license it to MJ and let them do it? Certainly letting Hasbro know it’s wanted is a great idea. I just don’t know if there are enough Joe fans anymore who want that to move the needle. Let’s hope. Yo Joe! |

That is my point. A group of guys creating action figures and selling them could probably be happy with paying their mortgage and feeding their kids. But another very different thing is a millionary corporation.

but hey, keep plunging your idealist head in the sand and ignoring people, and their intimate knowledge, that have been here for years. claiming these people have no experience of how marketing, management, brand value, blah...blah...blah... go back and read some threads. educate yourself. you think steevy maximus, or silver optimus don't know what they're are talking about? dude. It's cool, man. 200+ posts of "you wan't the holes filled." we get it. Last edited by Dragasses; 02-21-2018 at 01:04 PM.. |

I’m sure there are plenty of people at Hasbro like Bobby Vala who love Joe and would love to make those figures and vehicles but it has to come from the top to get started. |

The big component that i think is being overlooked is Hasbro can decide what's acceptable profit in the form of units and set the minimum backers accordingly. BFS & MTF are financing an entire business. The goals aren't the same.

I keep mentioning Derryl DePriest’s (VP of Global Brand Management for Hasbro) interview...here it is. Jump right to the 2:35:00 mark. He talks for 10 minutes about Joe toys, Hasbro, profitability and resources. It’s good insight into the fine they have to walk with fans and decisions made. He says why there are no Joe toys in the stores even though they were profitable. Yo Joe! https://thefullforce.podbean.com/e/t...s-4-episode-2/ |

I'll give it a listen. But i don't have launching a retail line in mind with Haslab as s launch pad, but an online based pre-order very similar to FSS.
All the things you say may still be the case. I just don't think it's an apples to apples comparison with standard retail. That's all I'm getting at.
