Now that product and news are few and far between, I've been enjoying the polls, that guys like beef and jedijones have been putting up. There's a poll that is rating vehicles, but since my all time favorite vehicle got snubbed ( the APC), I feel I have to stand up in defense of the underrated, most utilitarian, most awesomest work horse of the joe motor pool. Join my in singing the praises of the almighty APC! Get nostalgic about your APC, and share pics or stories if you got 'em!

I have 2. One houses my OG13 team, as well as a couple more iconic ARAH figures, like the Sarge. The other APC is still on active duty, and transports my 5 year old daughters collection of all female joes. Its amphibious functions are still utilized, as it makes the occasional trip to the tub, for play time.

What I loved about it was that it actually floated evenly. More than I can say about most boats in the line up.
Here's mine.

Pretty sure it's in it's box,at my mom's 1,000 miles away, lol. She's a hoarder,so who knows what she still has,she prolly doesn't even know, prolly the other one too! haha! I never cared for them. I don't even recall if those came with a driver? I do rember they where cheap like $10-$15 range? boxes&boxes stacked high at TRU,right out of reach.

The black one is the night force one and might even be valuable.
YOJOE.COM | Night Scrambler Hahaha! Yup! Makes perfect sense!! Sega Genesis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Both Christmas presents from 1989. The genesis killed joes for me. Altered Beast > American Heroes, lol. Yeah,I had mentioned her having all that stuff before, and got asked to sell it. We don't have the best of relationships...,being taken to Ohio in the middle of the night, and fed lies about your father for 10years tends to drive a wedge in a family, lol. I can laugh at it now, cause I'm home again, and my dad&I are super cool, and have been for 18years. I chock up anything there as whatever...when she dies I'll go look another thing I did as a kid was buy vehicles for the driver. Slide him out,and the vehicle went into the attic/"under the eves" I army built track vipers before I knew what army building was...I'm sure those hiss II are still there too,all neat in their baggies... That and whatever else came out in the last few years of interest. I really don't remember. Sometimes I'll see stuff on yojoe or ebay, and be like "wholly crap I had that" totally forgot...

Never had one as a kid. One of the kids i played with did, and i can see now how much i under appreciated it.
28 Figs?! That's nut's! What i would really want to see is some kind updated troop carrier that was a cross between the concept coyote and the APC. Get rid of the pop-up features and give us a four door crew-cab w/ a bed area w/ removable top that holds 6 to 8 troops in the back, mountable crew weapon on top and running boards (2 fig's each) on the front and the rear bumper. Can't even hit the submit button without admitting what a pipe dream this is. So that said, let's pair him up with a brand spankin' new, completely new tooled original character named Gauntlet. With a 70's Clint Eastwood headsculpt! |

As far as I know, there are 4 versions of the APC.
1.original 2.action force(different interior, tires, weaponry and paint job) 3.night scrambler(night force) 4.Hasbro direct version (I believe this is the same as the club exclusive (CUDA) They're all different in paint jobs, but have the same basic exterior shell. How I would live to have a vehicle that could hold 28 modern era figures. I doubt the molds still exist, but if they did, it seems as it would be really easy to retool the footpegs and add the necessary height to the canopy. Although I could also go for an all newly tooled MRAP style version; as long as it could hold a large amount of figures, just like the original APC. |
