Hey all, this is my first post and I am imagining there will be more to come. My mom is in the process of downsizing her home and I recently went over to clear out a bunch of my old GI Joe stuff. All of it is from 1982-1986, but there is a LOT of cool stuff. I've already sold a few items on eBay and am learning a great deal about the trade. It's so cool these toys remain timeless.
Today I stumbled across a mail-away William Perry 1986 action figure, and noticed a factory error. The left arm is attached backwards. I have the football weapon and File Card as well. I've searched around for something like it and cannot find anything. How would I go about attempting to determine the value? What is the best way to sell a factory error item like this? Any advice is appreciated! |

I won't claim to be an expert, but in my years of surfing toy collecting forums, I'd say that's the kind of random factory error that makes the item worth less than the regular correct version.

Shoot! I was hoping it was like a baseball card, where the "errors" are actually more valuable. Sounds like that may not actually be the case.

If it were some kind of paint variation, then it might be more valuable, but few if anyone would be interested in a backward arm Frigde. My two cents.

Especially since you can unscrew him and replace the arm with a correct one...
If I were to bid on him, I'd also have to bid on an arm and that's two times the shipping. So if you plan on selling, I'd replace that arm first.

My mail-away Joseph Colton from when I was a kid came with a similar factory error, though not as blatant/obvious. He has the correct forearm and hands, but somehow the error effects the way his arm bends. It's very odd.

Factory errors can be cool and all, but I don't see this as one of them. Now if the wrong number was printed on his jersey but all his limbs were correct, that would be an entirely different story. |

if this was still in the package i think you would have something but it just being the wrong arm i dont think anyone is paying extra for it since like someone said you can easily swap that arm out and claim its a factory error. not saying your making it up, just saying thats how people would think bidding on it in ebay. you would need it in a sealed package or some letter from hasbro saying yep we screwed up to be worth something
