Hello all
So am going to do another big rebuild. Last summer I did the Cobra Moray and it came out really nice. The hull had some yellowing on it and I used the homemade retro-brite method for it and the results were mixed. There was some blotchy spots left behind. The yellowing was gone but there are some different shades of gray. From the pic below the Skystriker on the left is my original from Xmas 1983. That is the one I any going to do. I am going to do the retro-brite "bath" again and see how it comes out. My bag for the Moray wasn't sealed and some of the solution dried when I did that rebuild. I am hoping that I can get a tight seal this time to avoid that. Sorry for the long winded open but my question to you guys is this. If I am going to take my Skystriker completely apart to do this. Are there any pitfalls I should be aware of. Anything tough to get apart and tougher to put back together? I am doing the more beat up Skystriker because it is my original and because I really like the challenge of the restore. At least if this first try is a bust I have another to restore. I took my Striker apart about six months ago to clean and fix landing gear. No real issues but photograph what you can once inside. Also the sweep back wings lever and where the wing gears meet it should be remembered. But I had no trouble.

I'm not positive of this, but I thought that top and bottom of the plane at the engine intakes were glued together. That might just be the modern version. Something to look out for anyway.

Thanks guys!
I can confirm no glue on the 1983 version. I am also bragging about the fact that for once I was able to get a vehicle apart without breaking a single tab. Quite a feat for me. |
