Okay so there has probably been a discussion of this in the past that I managed to miss but Iíll ask anyway.
Whatís so bad about the Street Fighter subset of figures? Iíve looked around on this forum for awhile and whenever I see them mentioned itís more often than not negative about them. I think theyíre great, some of my favorite figures, even with a lot of the designs being way off from what they should be. But then again Iím just a dumb kid who has only been into Joe for about two years.
Can anyone tell me why theyíre so disliked?

Street Fighter the movie vying for top spot as worst film ever made (House of the Dead is neck and neck with SF)...

Personally i love the Street Fighter subset both the player one colors and the vehicles with the driver repaints. To be fair though Capcom stuff is my first collecting love and Gi Joe is my second.

I don't really have anything against them, I just always felt it was like Hasbro was making Street Fighter figures and didn't have anywhere else to put them, so they got lumped in with the Joe figures, so I've never felt they were actually part of the same universe. (but I could easily see the Joe Resolute team taking on the Shadowloo (sp?) from the StreetFighter the movie (cartoon... the one where Chun-Li kicks Vega's ass after taking a shower.... ....)

To me Street Fighter has no place in the Joe universe. Hasbro was really grasping at straws when they put these figures out.
....and knowing is half theYo Joe!

They work nicely as lesser ninja fodder, and I've even worked hard to give them better tied backstories to add to my Joeverse, but I think the SF and MK figures have a bad rep for a few reasons...
1) It was an invasion of a property that wasn't Joe, what Hasbro felt would have been an easy (and cost effective) retool and repaint of figures that would draw new buyers in but it ended up pissing fans off who would have rather had new Joe stuff. I mean honestly that Thunder Machine repaint is aweful.
2)The colors some of those figures and ALOT of the vehicles looked terrible in the colors they made them in.
3)Some figures weren't really even good representations of the SF or MK lines Blanka, and M. Bison are good examples.
4)Plus we essentially got repaints of the Ninja Force bodies, a gimmick a lot of people feel was the beginning of the end of the action figure line.
That having been said there are a number of pretty good figures from SF or MK, my favorite being Scorpion, Reptile, Smoke, and Sub-Zero, they make excellent generic ninjas. I also like Chun-Li, Vega, Dhalsim and Edmond Honda.
If you stop thinking of them as SF and MK figures they make nice additions to your Joe or Cobra or even Red Shadows (Bison, Masters, and Zangief) forces.
