W: Lego 6990 Monorail! :)

Sometimes, it's as if they added the points of articulation just to LOOK like the figure's more articulated. The ball-jointed head, for example - several figures' heads won't allow it to move up and down anyway, so what good is it?
Don't even get me started on the Duke arms... and even worse, because of the other point I mentioned (too much re-use), it's not an isolated case - far from it, in fact!
Please check out http://hmcsgreatadventure.com/ - it's a mix of sci-fi, humour and the friggin' Royal Canadian Navy, eh!
Also looking to sell/trade Joes... Need Lego Futuron Monorail, Land Adventure, etc... http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...-t-thread.html

Wow, I think there is a lot of good points brought up here in this thread. I posted my opinion of this on another thread.
"I really like the look, articulation, and the height difference of the new figures vs the old ones; but there is a few they got wrong in the new line. Example: The old 1st Ace looks way better then the new flight suit one. I remember using him as a space man and that is what his suit was for, high altitude. The new one looks more like a wet suit, then a flight suit. (See Image). ;)"
True comparison between the to lines the modern stuff will win because of technology and new plastics used today, but the old line has a "mystic" about it. It was a new concept for its time. Tell me why if the new line is so great, why are they still using the ARAH vehicles? This is what the 25th or new line is really lacking.
Comparing side by side figs like Gung Ho and Roadblockfor their size difference, I think the Sigma Six line got that one right compared to any 3.75 lines.
Comparing the sculpts, well then again, the newer line should be favored for reasons I said above. An exception would be not getting the figure accurately like the ACE (That depends on what is accourate to you).
Remember these are toys, They are supposed to have character. The lack of this to the new line is in the cartoon and commercials for the product line, there ISN'T ONE with the new line. The old line had all that with the cartoons, comics, movies, and commercials.
True we are all older then being a kid playing with Joes today, but at lest we have our memories of good times with things we like. These memories should be past on to a new generation

Nothing will ever take the place of my original Joes from 1982-1985. That was my time. I dabbled in VvV and Spy Troops but there was something off about them. When the 25th came back I jumped on it right away. I do like having updated sculpts of characters I grew up with but still there is something off about them. I like the vehicles in this new line (my original Joes look awesome in them) but most of the figures have been hit (Snow Serpent, Beachhead, Firefly) or miss (Wild Bill, Breaker, Ace)
I'll take the vintage figures any day over the current stuff.

Well I agree with much of most who posted previously before me. However there is something I do want to point out. 25th Anniversary line, was infact directed mainly toward adults, not just children. I work for a food store and I had brought in a book which had a price guide(2005) and a Toy Review(2009) for comparing the 25th line, to the origials, and how much things have changed. A few guys on the team I work with are also Joe collectors. They said" Man if I only Kept this or that." And they started to collect the 25th line too. They are not members on the Tank. One guy would make many of you jealous as I've seen his collection. I can tell you he could open a Joe Musuem most of his joes are carded and or in box. He commented to me on the 25th line similar. He liked the look, but Not holding their worth.
Now.. as for worth? Look in a Toy Review, and you tell me Flint isn't up there for only being around for 2 years. He's climbing in price as much as Snake Eyes with the black Timber.
Want to complain they won't be worth their weight? THEY ARE NEWER! TMNT- People said the same thing about the turtles. They wouldn't be worth crap, Ooh yes they are. Transformers? Love both lines, I do prefer the original look and style. However Bumblebee from a VW to Camaro? Kick-ass. I do love the Original Flint, but the Hall of Heroes(5 pack update) blows it away.

Here's another tickler for you . You said you liked original joes? What the heck do you think the TigerRat,Rattler, Conquest 1, and PP X-30 are? They are the original molds! They only changed the belly pan on the two Rattler versions. So they don't say 1984 or 1988, like these below. New and old side by side. Point is the majority of the vehical selections are actually the originals. I'll bet the Hiss matches up with her original as does the Stingraider( i do not have the Raider for comparing.)

Just the simple fact that you have to custom drill the knee joints just to make them sit properly in a vamp to me is ridicules. And theres no way that 25th has the same success as the ARAH line no matter how many repaints or obscure characters like wrath i need more than a file card description to get into him? im willing to bet if you get the numbers even in the 80's with the limited marketing back then it was more successful monetarily. For me its kinda like the new 2010 Camaro its cool has a ls3 but wheres the character its nothing like driving a '69!

I prefer the 25th and movie stuff to the original. The original ARAH's had some great figure designs, and the best 25th figures are those that are faithful to the original sculpts and accessories.
But I also enjoy when the 25th deviates from the ARAH precedent, in stuff like Matt Trakker (which is a great fig, IMO), Cobra Paratrooper, Cobra Diver, etc. I wish they did more of this stuff. It looks like the movie line will be utilizing some of these "expanded universe" (for lack of a better term) concepts, which I'm looking forward to.

I definitely prefer the 25th stuff (and I grew up playing with the vintage figures). As has been mentioned here already, I love the vintage Joes but they just look dated (as they should) compared to the Modern line.
To each his own I guess.

Also Hasbro aimed this product at collectors like us here on the TANK. Most kids have hardly any idea what GI Joe is or have any interest of it to speak of.
Hasbro is a company, and like any company they are in business to make money. This is why we see repaints. Not just because they will sell them, but also they are familiar characters to the line. I feel your pain on repaints. Any time now I thinking they will have a pink Snake Eyes.
Why do you think they separated all the main characters of the original series? Yeah they could have carded each one, but instead they put them in bigger ticket items like the Ultimate Battle Pack, vehicle packs, Senior Ranking Officers, etc. To make money! Hasbro new we as adults collected them as kids and would collect them again as adults.
This line also got people back into collecting. I know that from experience!
Long live the 25th/Modern Line! I love it!!
