Oddly I can help you out here...I made an EXHAUSTING list of what fits where.
The order goes like this... You could possibly include the Devil's Due mini series G.I. Joe: Declassified since recent issues have looped in the character Shooter. -Declassified #001 -Declassified #002 -Declassified #003 -001 -Hot Potato (I assume this takes place shortly after the main story) -002 -003 -004 -005 -006 -007 -008 -009 -010 -011 -012 -013 -014 -015 -016 -017 -018 -019 -020 -021 -021B (Snake Eyes / Stormshadow comic pack) -022 -023 -024 -025 -026 -027 -028 -029 -030 -031 -032 -032.5 (Cobra Officer / Crimson Guard comic pack) -Yearbook 1 (TECHNICALLY...this really doesn't have an original story so it can fit in anywhere or nowhere) -033 -034 -035 -036 -036.5 (Tomax / Xamot comic pack) -037 -038 -039 -040 -041 -042 -043 -044 -Yearbook 2 -045 -046 -047 -048 -049 -050 -SM 0 (Best Defense Story) -Joe vs TF 1 -Joe vs TF 2 -Joe vs TF 3 -Joe vs TF 4 -051 -SM 001 -052 -053 -054 -SM 002 -055 -056 -SM 003 -057 -Yearbook 3 -058 -SM 004 -059 -060 -061 -SM 005 -SM 006 -062 -063 -064 -SM 007 -065 -066 -SM 008 -067 -068 -SM 009 -Yearbook 4 -069 -070 -SM 010 -071 -072 -SM 011 -073 -074 -SM 012 -075 -076 -SM 013 -077 -SM 014 -078 -079 -SM 015 -080 -081 -SM 016 -082 -SM 017 -083 -SM 018 -084 -SM 019 -085 -SM 020 -086 -086.5 (Destro / Iron Grenadier comic pack Numbered #7) -SM 021 -087 -SM 022 -088 -SM 023 -089 -SM 024 -090 -SM 025 -091 -SM 026 -092 -SM 027 -SM 028 -093 -094 -095 -096 -097 -098 -099 -100 -101 -102 -103 -104 -105 -106 -107 -108 -109 -110 -111 -112 -113 -114 -115 -116 -117 -118 -119 -120 -121 -122 -123 -124 -125 -126 -127 -128 -129 -130 -131 -132 -133 -134 -135 -136 -137 -138 -139 -140 -141 -142 Oddly some of Transformers G2 has appearances of the Joe team...it does not fit very well in the Joeverse but it would be here. -TF G2 001 -TF G2 002 -TF G2 006 -143 (Technically according to the writer the framing story was meant to take place after issue 134...but honestly it works fine right where it is so take your pick. The story that is the flashback has no real place in this time line but since it involves only Joes from early in the team it could take place nearly ANYWHERE between issues 1-13...but since Hawk is telling us about it being an early mission I assume its either before or after the short 'Hot Potato'.) -144 (Similar to the above issue the framing takes place after the events of 142 (and maybe the G2 series but the flashback presumably would be before issue #1) -145 -146 -147 -148 -149 -150 -151 -152 (Framing story takes place now, the flashback wayyyy before issue #1) -153 -154 -155 From here you can either follow the DDP continuity which is a whole nother list if you want it...but if your following the Hamaverse (can we make that a thing?) then you pick up with the IDW series... -155.5 -156 -157 -158 -159 -160 -161 -162 -163 -164 -165 -166 -167 -168 -169 -170 -171 -172 -173 -174 -175 -2012 Annual -176 -177 -178 -179 -180 -181 -182 -183 -184 -185 -186 -187 -188 -189 -190 -191 -192 -193 -194 -195 -196 -197 -198 -199 -200 -201 -202 -203 -204 -205 -206 -207 -209 -210 -211 -212 -213 -214 -215 -216 -217 -218 -Cobra World Order prelude -219 -220 -221 -223 -224 -225 -226 -227 -228 -229 -230 -231 -232 -233 -234? or whatever is the current issue. Now I will say this list is based as best as I can on the story, where natural breaks happen in the story, and at times when the issue was published...I assume the SM books happened at roughly the same time as the regular series stories unless there was a direct crossover such as the Outback story or if characters were otherwise occupied in the main series. Nice list. IDW is doing a good job with the chronology in their HC collections. I already own the SC collection, but honestly the HC are worth the double dip for me. The commentary on each issue, a nice 3 page forward in each book, and vehicle blueprints sold me. The fact all the Hammaverse stories are in chronological order is gravy.

I preordered #9 on 12/25/15. No joke. :(

The declassified devils due were good, particularly the gi joe mini. The Snake Eyes mini wasnt too bad either. They all slot in before issue one though.
As far as volume 9 goes, I am keeping a wary eye it, but Im only up to vol. 5. My sister gets me a volume for Christmas and a volume for my Birthday. Until then Im watching for the Transformers vs GI Joe HC. I loved that series to the point of tracking down all the variant covers. I know some view it as sacrilege, but I find it to be tremendous from start to finish. |

I like to add The TIger and The Teapot from 2008 comic pack inbetween comic 26 and 27. It fits perfectly. The Tiger and the Teapot,25th Anniversary Comic Packs (Original Stories, 2008-2009),G.I. Joe Comic Book Archive
Do the new Special missions from 2013 fit in with the continuation of the New A real American hero line?
