Do i have to use smaller ones? any specific size you guys use? I've used the same o rings on every figure, but i just replaced two 84 fireflys and neither fit right, they cause the shoulders to be slightly separated.

I don't know what size the ones are I use, I bought a crapload of them from the gijoe club a few years ago when had them in stock. They worked better than the ones I use to buy on ebay, but I have yet to find any that work well with the 82,83 or 84 figures. I run into the same problem you have with Firefly.
I started using the smallest rubberbands I could find, they are about the same size as the inner diameter of the o-rings and work perfect. The only problem is that I've never been able to find a solid bag of them. They only seem to come in the variety packs. edit: something I read either here or over at YoJoe, is that modern o-rings aren't as soft as the old ones. Those old ones were soft enough to have some give when the arms pressed against them, the new modern o-rings don't do that and it can cause the torso split to happen. Are you sure the issue is with the ring? I had a Storm Shadow who would separate at the shoulders and it turned out the female end on the chest had been partially stripped so the screw wouldn't hold.

I bought some off of eBay and realized they were a bit thicker than regular. They make slim ones as well. I bought some of those for slimmer figs like v1 CC.
