Okay, I was just updating my trade list and going through some other sale/trade lists, and it just occurred to me that after a few years of sifting through these threads on multiple forums, I have NEVER seen a complete V1 Shipwreck for sale or trade. I've seen them on ebay, sure, but never, ever on a forum. What's the deal? I know he was a popular cartoon character, but is he THAT popular?
Seriously, it was easier(not cheaper...) for me to get a Listen & Fun Tripwire than original Shipwreck, and I'm not kidding. |

That's the same reason it took me five years to find someone trading an '83 Cobra. Grrr on you!
Is that really the only reason though? |

I got mine a few years back on ebay before people went joe crazy, in the early 2000's. I guess the reason being polly's feet are hard to find intact along with the original rope and hook. I'm just guessing, but the undamaged polly was the seller for me.

Not to upset you, but I go a complete V1 Shipwreck, and a lot of other complete figs, for $0.99 a couple years ago on ebay. I think now what's old is new and people just want to own some of the cooler vintage figs. I had a hard time finding a vintage complete Alpine for a while.

I have no problem finding them on ebay, but I'm not shelling out $20 for a common 1985 figure. I try to get most of my stuff through trades on forums. I'm just surprised that in 4+ years of trading (more than that, really...been around since 1999 on yojoe.com) I have never seen a complete Shipwreck for trade. Are there any collectors besides me who just want one of each figure and trade off duplicates?

The crotch and hook on his waist are easily broken The polly feet are easily broken and the hook is VERY hard to find. Quite frankly, $20 is a pretty good price for a C9.

Well, I understand that much, and I'd be happy to trade $20 worth of stuff for it. My question is why are they never up specifically for trade? I would think perhaps because people can make $20 a pop on them on ebay, but then there are figures worth much more than that for trade all the time.
