I doubt AFA grading will be worth it on a broken figure, I don't know how much it costs but I don't see how a low rating improves value.

That is a bummer man, I've seen this more and more - where MOC Joes get busted O-Rings. It definitely ruins a lot of the value on the figure.
I don't think there is much you can do. MOC collectors typically won't want MOC Joes that have busted O-rings. So you can try to sell it MOC at a markdown given the busted O-ring, or you can open it to enjoy for yourself, or to sell/trade.

I think your best bet is to leave it on in the package. You could always re-sell it and use that money to try to go after another that isn't broken. But since you were considering opening it to fix it, maybe you want to consider a reproduction cardback kit. I have several of them and I love them. They look great and are much cheaper than a real MOC. Sure, it's not original but if you want the look and aren't so worried about authenticity, this is the way to go.

In my original collection, I had a carded set of the wave 2 DEF/Headhunter figures that were exclusive to Australia, and this happen to Law. What was worse was that the waist piece somehow ended up falling down into the area where the weapons tree and missile launcher was. It obviously bothered me but I didn't open the card.

Hi guys. I got my first vintage moc. Perfect card, clear bubble but it has a broken oring. I'm not intrested to grade it afa, i want only display in my collection. So here is my question. There is a way to open the figure without breaking card or bubble for replace oring? Or you think i must leave it with broken oring as is?

I have a complete collection of MOC vintage figures and vehicles, got them all for less tan 100 from 3DJoes! Never have to worry about broken o rings or if the parts in the box turned yellow or if the sticky on the stickers has gone away!
The grading companies should only be grading the card and bubble on MOC anyway the figure should be mint even if the o ring detiriated. |
