That is a cool Idea. My dad worked on jets in the navy during the vietnam war he served on these three carriers. If you served in the navy you watched the video of my dad crusie. Fire on the Forrestal. Saratoga (CV-60) Forrestal (CV-59)Oriskany (CV-34) he Decommissioned her in 1976. back to topic at hand make my other Flagg one of my dads Boats...... Great Idea!!!!

Getting back to the 66 vs 99 vs 69 discussion, I can explain what Hasbro did vs what the Navy does, vs what collectors may want to do...
Officially speaking, the Navy places the deck numbers of aircraft carriers where you can read them while flying over the ship from Stern to Bow (back to front). With that being the case, the USS Flagg's box, instructions, promo material, etc are all labeled "66" which would be incorrect per Naval specifications. If you are going to replace your Flagg decals, you have a choice: 1. make it an official Naval vessel and place the decals in the "99" designation per Navy specs (going against Hasbro's directions) 2. replicate the original assembly and place the decals in the "66" designation (possibly for nostalgic purposes) 3. jack around with people and give it a "69" designation 4. place the labels in a "66" designation and leave off the "USS Flagg" decals and call it the "USS America" (which is an official naval vessel (more details from Wikipedia) My hope is to some day get a Flagg in superb shape and keep it with original decals just as Hasbro released it (with the "66" designation), THEN have a 2nd Flagg that I piece together as a restoration project using some repro parts and set it up as the USS America, and also get an extra bow plate and place repro numbers on it with the "99" designation that I can swap out on the superb Flagg. That's the dream. I'll start with the USS America first (everyone else has a Flagg) and go from there. -------------------------------------------------- hey codenameflint! If you replace some of your figs with better versions, LMK if you are willing to trade the extras as my vintage Joe collection is still very small. Thanks!

So I snagged a lot off of eBay back in November for $650. Included a 85% complete Flagg, 100% complete HQ, 95 figures complete
Including 84 SS, 85 SE, Viper Glider Pilot and pretty much every fig from 82-86. It also included all PAC rats, complete bivouac, night landing and 2 Hiss tanks. Sold most of the double figs for close to $500, and the smaller vehicles for $150. I have a butt ton of weapons I'm still sorting out. Used $200 to complete Flagg and I'm just damn happy! I basically got a Flagg for Free and a few figs that would have cost me upward of $150-200 to buy individually. There is nothing like owning a Flagg! |

On another note it would be cool if cobrastickers made all the numbers so you could put what ever numbers you wanted on your Flagg. |

I have seen the fire on the Forrestal video a couple times, Back before I got into Coast Guard Aviation, I was a non rate on a Coast Guard Cutter and we would be shown that video for safety training.

Well, finally put my FLAGG together. Everything was brand new sealed in bags and on the trees. It took me close to four hours to build and sticker it. Well worth my time. Lol. I snagged it on eBay for $500. Everything is there. I'm going to put photos up in my collection thread in a bit.
One happy camper. I got this for Christmas when it came out and remember lining all my vehicles up on it. Jim |

I just put mine together again this weekend for the second time ever. Missing 7 parts still. If anybody has the following, let me know: radar white stem, purge valve, 2 y pins, crane engine cover, radar cap, and repro bow stern railing. Would also like to replace or repair my mic system.
