You can get a full set of Flagg Decals from JRuben for 40.00 but the only catch is.. you have to cut them all out by hand. I got mine from him and they are spectacular but it takes time to cut them out. I don;t mind at all when I am saving 60.00!!

My Flagg needs:
-All missiles from for the rocket launcher -Steering wheeel & post -Hydraulic lift for the deck blast panel -Arresstor Hook -Bomb rack (interior tower) -Deck Pins -Radar tower & mast -Top deck railing -1 bulkhead door -Water tower lookin' thingie for top of tower I have for trade or whatever: -1 extra full deck (all parts) -1 computer console (large one from main bridge tower) Also.. Here are my plans for this week: -A stream of fiber optic cable on ebay runs around $10 for a handful.. You can run these through the deck by drilling precision holes. For the conduit casing, I'm using drinking straws for the straight pieces, bending drinking straws for where I need a joint. I'm spray painting them all black to stop light transfer. I'm cutting the fiber to deposit on the back side of each computer console, than drilling small holes so that they light through the console as tiny lights, 1 strand per hole. A drinking straw fits around 30 fiber optic strands, so you'll have 30 individual lights at different consoles. I'm running the piping / conduit / fiber to the base of the flagg, through the deck and behind the white exterior panel of the tower that touches the floor. On the far end of the fiber, you need a light source. Anything will work; a laser pointer, a flash light. If you use several sources, with different color bulbs, and thread the strands so that they touch different bulbs, you'll have randomly colored different lighting on your computer terminals. This is something I picked up from HO train scale builders; pretty neat. The wiring for the lighting is pretty simple; setup a double AA battery pack (use any, you can salvage from a small toy and take the housing), run the +/- to a small on/off switch (about $2.00 at radio shack, or again salvage from an old JvC or VvV toy), than run the far end connection of the switch to the bulbs in a series. Three is usually all you need, blue, red, yellow. LED's work better, are safer, generate less heat, and last longer. Should be able to pickup a variety pack @ radio shack for under $5. All told you can do the wiring to light your computer consoles for under $30 including shipping for the fiber on Ebay, the radio shack components if needed, black matte spray paint for the straw tubing, and batteries. The only console this will be difficult doing is the main bridge console, since their is little space underneath due to the leg room. Not hard, just requires a bit more tubing and VERY precise drilling. Would use a tiny bit for the holes where you want the fiber to come through, don't clip the wire until you are completely done the full install, in case you need slack or tension in other areas. Thoughts?

JoeMama-
I have all of the parts you're looking for except the mast (I have a couple of the top halves, all of my extra bottom halves are broken) and I don't believe that I have any extra pins, I'll have to look through my parts box. I have a complete ship and I'm working on a custom. I am actually lacking all deck panels but was going to use hardwood for it. Also, just FYI, I'm putting my first custom in the contest at the JoeCan this year. It will be my first "full" custom. I've dabbled around with ideas over the last 7 to 8 months. I can't believe that I've committed to a deadline this soon. Oh well... wish me luck! |

Questions...
1. What are the most abstract ways + materials to make for water for the FLAGG? 2. What is the most realistic ways + materials to make for water for the FLAGG? |

I thought the following was a cool idea. Instead of Walmart's self-waving "Stars & Stripes" flag, why not a cloth material painted to look like water that can also do "the wave..." Here's a video of the self waving flag on Flickr - Photo Sharing! Last edited by Tuskegee Joe; 02-24-2010 at 01:34 PM.. |

Has anyone tried this yet? Here's the past thread of what I found. I have yet to see any FLAGG owners attempt it. Perhaps there are more affordable ways to do this? http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...mas-flagg.html Last edited by Tuskegee Joe; 04-13-2010 at 02:14 AM.. |
