I did it!!! i finally just got the last piece i was missing to complete my childhood Flagg, the elusive mast! i got the mast cap a few weeks ago, and had the upper mast, but was waiting patiently for a lower mast in good condition to come along, but instead a complete (both sides) one, sans mast cap came along for a pretty far price, $50. i've been watching Flagg parts for awhile now, and the rare stuff, that is, all the same things we all lost or broke back then, are becoming increasingly rare and more expensive. if you're working on completing one, definitely go for those ones first. i even scored a cheap microphone / speaker that my buddy was able to get working for me! other than blueprints, and repro stickers, the only part i still need, is the Admiral's handgun. does anyone have one to part with reasonably? perhaps to trade for the upper mast?

True. lol But I'm wondering more what happened to mine when I was a kid. For some reason I always thought the deck clips would be the hardest pieces to replace so I placed stronger emphasis on keeping them well. I never would've thought the purge valve or even the fantail deck railing would be easily lost.
How complete is your Flagg % wise? My "Flagg" will likely only be 25% complete. That is unless my child on the way goes apesh!t over GI Joes, like Dad. Then I'd finish it, but for now, I'm assembling the superstructure and painting it in authentic colors according to the Navy colors and coatings manual. I have a Skystriker, Conquest, Dragonfly, and Tomahawk in waiting for clearance to land and a Moray ready to attack! I figure the superstructure will be the most complex and the rest, minus fantail railing, tow hitch, and engine covers, would be fairly easy to attain later. Like I said before, I'm only a partial plank owner! LOL! Last edited by Everett Colby; 12-09-2014 at 09:36 AM.. |

I’ll have to take some pics of it…right now you’re looking at the only one that I have. What I did was put up a glass shelf, put the TTBP, WHALE (and a couple other vehicles not in the picture) on top, and then added a second set of TTBP legs under the glass shelf to give the appearance of a water line. All my divers, subs, and sea critters are under the glass shelf. It’s not perfect…it’s obviously just a shelf but I think it came out pretty good.

I have a question about the M-4077:Lower Mast. Why is this piece prone to breaking? Is it because it was poorly engineered and the fitting between the upper mast is putting stress on the lower mast's columns? Or is it really just a case of kids being rough with a somewhat fragile part?
I notice very few Lower Masts I see on eBay are unbroken.

Wow. Love all those jets lined up. Nice clean set up. Someday, I hope to have my collection organized like yours is. |
