I had a similar experience getting the Flagg to the UK, had to go via UPS very expensive! The problem now is that if I ever went to sell it I would have to charge about £800 which is sort of double what the thing is worth!

With help from a kind eBayer & huge help from Hisstank member Ryan (PrimeTarget), I finally have the main Deck of the USS Flagg!
I had bought the bulk of the set including the tower in 2011, but it has taken this long to find a way to send the Deck. Still many smaller pieces I need to hunt down. Admirals Launch, antennas, various ladders & the fuel car thing. But atleast now the biggest pieces are out of the way. It was not easy to get the Deck to Australia. Most Post Offices would not send it. Ryan had to do quite a bit of running around. Here is the e-mail he sent me, in case any of you need something large sent internationally: Good news the deck has shipped! Tried to pack every piece into the slim box but it went over the 108" girth measurement so i packed it in with just 2 largest pieces and it just made it exactly 108"!!! Checked DHL = $385.00 Checked UPS = would not ship it. Finally got through with USPS Global Express. The first 2 post offices did not work they told me the max was 75" or something. My home town one finally did after a call to customer service stating the global express max legnth 46 max w 35 and girth combined 108. Grand total $171.85 Huge thanks to Ryan! You are a legend!!

Ugh... just about had a heart attack...
I get a text from a friend saying he saw a GI Joe aircraft carrier on a classifieds site (kind of like Craigslist) that was "big, doesn't really float and says GI Joe on it and is complete" for $25 bucks!!! I stopped what I was doing in a mad scramble to get online and track this bad boy down. I find it and it's that damn Saratoga mini-carrier! DAMN!!!! |

Congrats! Sounds like it was definitely worth the drive for you.
I actually have never tested my microphone to see if it works. It was always something where I said "maybe soon I will test it." Now my Flagg is in storage again.

I am actually good without the micro phone, i wont be getting rid of it , my kids can do that, or my grandkids can destroy it, whenever they get here (in hopefully no sooner than 20 years) while playing with it and i am to old to care about it.

Hi, can someone pls answer this question:
The part where the admiral's launch is situated is actually hollow underneath with no support. I find that particular area on my Flagg is slanted towards the superstructure. Is that normal? |

I'm very proud to be a Flagg owner. I know for most Joe collectors it's something of a holy grail but I honestly have to say it's where my collection started. I never had Joes growing up, I was a Lego kid. I watched the cartoon and I always thought the toy commercials were cool but I never wound up with any of the vehicles or figures.
The first time I saw a Flagg was a little over 10 years ago in a local comic shop. It was jaw dropping, so big that it was displayed across the tops of the 4 soda coolers that lined one wall near the entrance and I was instantly hooked. I had just lost my job so the $400 price tag put it out of reach for me at the time as I was living off my savings. None the less I showed up every week to pick up my comic subscriptions and admire the dust covered Flagg. She only sat there for a month or so before she was sold, dashing my hopes of landing another job and saving up the money to buy her in time. I have not seen another one in person until just recently when I decided to bite the bullet and start collecting parts. I started with a parts lot on Ebay. It had the under structure, bow and stern and the bottom 2 levels of the island as well as 3 of the flight deck pieces and the elevator as well as some of the small hard to find parts like the Y pins and fantail railing. I got a pretty good deal on it because one of the previous owners had painted the island pieces blue with black insides, judging by that I think it's safe to say she was a cobra custom at some point in her life. After the massive box arrived I cleaned the parts and decided to paint over the black and blue rather than risk damaging the vintage plastic. There were also some cracks that I hit with modelers glue so the paint helped hide that too. The largest piece of the flight deck that the island connects to was missing as was the hull skirt but it wasn't long before I tracked them down and had her as I call it "Sea Worthy" Again. After that I began collecting the parts to fully fit her out. I worked at it pretty quickly and had everything in place in a little over a month with parts from 15 different states. Everything is original with the exception of the mast cap and the stickers which I ordered from J. Ruben. Most of the deck stickers were ok but I replaced a few. I lucked into a couple of the reissue SkyStrikers to help fill out my deck, the rest of which is filled with lego planes, anime figures (Remember I have no Joes) and a few other things I think makes my Flagg pretty Unique and I hope everyone enjoys seeing. Here's my Flagg |
