My first experience with GI Joe was for my birthday I got a Cobra ASP and a Cobra. I did not play with them much until Christmas when I got a GI Joe slugger and Gung Ho, then it was all down hill from there.
My last was the GI Joe battle wagon. It was really a neat toy how it was motorized and could travel across the whole yard with a small army of my favorite joes. It was disappointing how it did not come with an action figure. Soon after I got into competitive fishing of all things and toys fell by the wayside. The best or most attached I have ever been to a toy besides my Star Wars A-Wing fighter was the AWE Striker. I would put Lady Jaye and sonic fighter Dial Tone and they would travel everywhere. Once the striker broke it was replaced with the Hammer, which served as a camping vehicle where the Joes would sleep overnight in the back yard. A much simpler time back then

My first figure was straight arm Breaker, quickly followed by the Vamp with straight arm Clutch. I remember being wowed that I could take my Adventure People and Star Wars guys and put them in the Vamp and vice versa.
My last was Destro with the Despoiler. I never really liked the Despoiler and bought it purely to get the gold headed Destro figure. My favorite memory is probably receiving the SkyStriker and Torpedo for my birthday in second grade. I took Torpedo with one of the SkyStriker seats to school and we would throw it up in the air and let him parachute down. One time the chute did not open and Torpedo's arm broke off at the elbow. I was pretty sad about it until my older step brother heated up a nail and stuck it into the stump of his arm and made him totally bad ass (or the second grade equivelent of that phrase).

'91 was the last year I really bought any Joes. I was 12 it was time to start pretending I wasn't interested, I guess. I only bought four of the figures that came out that year, Big Ben, CGI, Dusty, and Red Star. I did buy Big Bear in '92, just because I was still shocked that they were finally making Oktober Guard figures, especially since the USSR was done at that point. I didn't get anymore action figures until '95 when the new Star Wars stuff started coming out. I picked up a bunch of the Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and the O-Ring '60s guys on clearance at KB whilst hunting those stupidly elusive '95 POTF Star Wars figures.
