so the playing field isn't level. And, really, all the kid-themed G.I. Joe cartoons in the world aren't ever going to put Joe on equal footing with Star Wars. The Star Wars model cannot be applied to Joe and be expected to work.

No one is saying G.I. Joe is as popular as Star Wars, or even that it will be, but it certainly can be much more popular than it is right now.

With the Hasbro/Discovery kids channel, it'll be a perfect time to get a new kids themed Joe cartoon out there.

I just buy the toys I like. I really like the Sky Raven coming out and the Turbo Tank too. I just picked up the Vulture Droid and Empire Wave. I really like the resolute figures too. I like the Marvel line too!

I understand where you are coming from with buying it to support the franchise but still there is no guarentee Hasblo will make the flagg.
That PITT playset looks kind of loopy and for $100 wopping dollars, something needs to kick ass and take names.
Hasblo should have just made the flagg instead in the first place.
If the flag is ever made, I wonder if it would just be a remake of the same molds or if they will spiff it up a little bit?

But yes, I agree that Hasbro could devote alot more effort to promoting Joe. But then it falls on the retailers and how much they're willing to support it. It would require a major bump in Joe exposure to warrant retailers giving more shelf space to the brand.

There is a reason that so many of us didn't have the Flagg when we were kids: our parents were responsible with their money.
So please don't think I'm knocking anyone for not wanting to pay too much. I'm just tired of the guys who complain because they think Hasbro should have hired them as creative consultants merely because they used to watch the TV show and have fond memories of playing with the toys when they were kids.
Congratulations to you and your fiance' about your twins. That's wonderful news.
Why aren't there more Joes from the Deep South?
And would it kill Hasbro to give us a Marine Corps Officer?

FLAGG? FLAGG?! $250? 7ft? Build a FLAGG? Buy the PITT so we can have the FLAGG? Gimme a break.
I'll take an assortment of re-released vehicles and playsets ( Tomahawk, Terrordrome, HQ, Thunder Machine, Watchtower etc. etc.. ) that I can get for that $250. That's a better deal, more feasible, more flexible and much more likely to be a success.
Build a FLAGG or commision one and you will get a dream ship that is the size you want. Or Hasbro could make a Titanium / Hot Wheels scale FLAGG that's representational.
I don't wish for a Death Star because it's the size of a moon! I personally use a PEZ Death Star in my display. It's looks pretty good.

A new Flagg?
All I know is that as a kid I had GI Joe overload in every medium that I was exposed to. I had Joe comics, I watched a Joe cartoon, I collected Joe toys (all using the same characters with the same overall story) even little drug stores, grocery stores and hardware stores carried Joe items (Shopping for a new hammer? Well, go with Dad to Home Hardware and you could walk out with a new Joe figure as a bonus)
There is very little exposure of OUR BELOVED plastic figures that the kids of today have access to. Strangely enough, the ROC movie will be that big push to get a new, younger audience and remind those older people of their love for these characters that they have not seen since they were kids. Just because we eat, sleep and breathe GI Joe, does not mean that everybody out there does.
If this movie is designed to remind those who have forgotten that GI Joe exists and get the attention from little kids to buy into a toy line that they know little about, I say " Do what you have to do Hasbro." If the success of this movie dictates what toys I get to buy that resemble my childhood toys, I say "Do what you have to Hasbro."
Does this mean that I will buy a PITT? No it does not. Does it mean that the new target audience will but the new PITT? I sure hope so. Remember: The new audience has no idea about what a Flagg is nor do they know what the Pitt (from our childhood) is. This new design will give them the playability that they need with something that they can connect to a movie that they just saw. And it fits many figures in it that they will have to purchase in order to continue the playability of their new mobile base.
All in all: NEW FLAGG: Probably won't happen.... NO MATTER HOW SUCCESSFUL THE FILM IS. And even if it did happen, it would be an updated Flagg. Can you imagine the shooting missile launchers along with sound attack gimmicks and handles on the top (to steer the ship, with triggers for the sound laser cannons and fishnet launching mega missiles or some other un-needed kid friendly device that would be needed for the update) that the Flagg would come with? Even if they did make it, most of us die hards would probably not want it because of the updates? Night Bird anyone?
Hope for mega success for the movie so that we can get just a little bit of FAN favorite stuff our way. I mean come on people, we got a weather dominator (well, some of us have all the pieces, I am not one of them) We got Python and Tiger force repaint of Jets that we loved as a kid. We got a 25th style well articulated line that lasted 2 years when it was supposed to last only one. A Croc master with a croc whose jaws open? A nod to M.A.S.K with Matt Trakker? It's little things like that which shows us that they do listen, it just takes time to follow through.
Here's hoping for a Flagg that is just an exact remake of the one from the 80's. Ebay is probably where I will find what I'm looking for. Not toy shelves. Sorry to say it but as a business stand point, it's not worth the investment for Hasbro.
I will stop rambling now.
P.S. A Terrordrome would be a better and more feasable playset for Hasbro to make. With a successful movie and it's successful sequals, it would make it a no brainer (we already have the firebat and A.V.A.C and there is already a Joe base (the Pitt) so now we need a Cobra base.

you don't need to or should buy the PITT.
For one its a crap vehicle which most would agree with, so all that would show is, just like what Tommy Boy explained, "if you want a FLAGG, I can take a dump in a box and mark it FLAGG"
In other words, no i would not want a FLAGG, or TOMAHAWK, or anything like that.
I want a cool large vehicle. If it happens to be an aircraft carrier named the FLAGG, or the HAWK, I really don't care,
but a rubber play mat, with a half hearted control station named the FLAGG, is not high on my priority list.
Instead, you should buy the toys.
I doubt they are going to use profits from the toys and split them up. That will be considered but the more profit the more they have for RanD advertising and marketing the products which is where something like that could be feasible.
It took many generations, and 6 movies for monster star wars toys.
Joes are far behind so you can't expect it tomorrow.
