Hello all!
After searching for one for years, I finally found a complete thunderwing jet at a local comic shop for my son. The only problem is the sounds are not working. Has anyone ever taken one apart, or had a similar problem? Ive put many sets of batterys in it, and I get the light flashing, and if you use the trigger or move it the light stays on. So that tells me everything is working except the sounds. Im wondering if a wire for the speaker mabye got broke from the handle folding over the years, but for the life of me I CANNOT get the nose cone of to completely disassemble it. If I could get the nose off I could do any of the electronic work needed, even replace the speaker if needed, but I tell ya..that nose cone is one there very securely. Any help or prior experience taking one apart or knowledge of the inner guts would be appreciated. By the way...holy cow this is one seriously baddass joe toy. I knew it was going to be cool, but im SO damn impressed with this. my son is amazed at the sight feature that allows you to look down and bomb. THANKS TANKERS!!

it might be more cost effective to just buy a new one that works...

I've never opened one up, but you should. See what's going on in there and post pics. The internets needs to know.

This!! I have never owned or worked on this vehicle but I would be willing to bet its a bad connection somewhere. I have had similar issues with other vehicles like the night attack chopper. If you decide to open it up I would take a gander to see if I could help.

Ive have the screws out, but the nose cone is covering both halves of the jet, so it cant come aprat without removing the nose cone.
Seriously..Ive grabbed that thing, and muscled it so hard I thought I was going to break the whole jet in half, and this thing is TOUGH. The nose cone seems to be held on with possibly dual mushroom pegs on each half, and then the nose cone overlays each half on the out side..Its like, once the nose cone has been put on, disassembly is impossible, unless you remove the nose. If I can figure it out..ill surely take pics, as when I did a google search, it seems there are ALOT of thunderwings with "bad" electronics. It has 3 AAA batteries, I "THINK" 2 of the batterys power the board, and one powers the speaker, or vice versa. Looking at the wires (you can only see 1.5 mm of wires in a small spot) a green wire seems to be stressed. Im sure the years of play have yanked a wire from the speaker connection, but alas..without figuring out the nose cone..this baby will NOT come apart..

I've tried to break one down. The Nose is non removable, and pretty much holds up disassembly.
I have an extra hulk with working electronics. It's missing it's removable wings and tail fins, thanks to a postal disaster. I will give it to you for shipping costs, if you would like. You should then be able to add all the other parts to it.

This is one of those vehicles I really regret selling. Congrats on getting one and hopefully you can get it to work.
