We all regret not getting what we are after at one point or another. I know I regret to this day not getting a custom Ice Viper Officer from eBay about a year or so ago, but I could not afford to bid more at the time. I just keep looking to see if the buyer puts it up for auction himself....it's all you can do.
Take a deep breath and keep your eye out for the next one. Sometimes "the thrill of the hunt" can be satisfying too. Last edited by IC3 VIP3R; 09-04-2015 at 09:56 PM.. |

This is already a frivolous hobby based on nostalgia and silly childhood memories. He set his sights on a grail, got it, had it defiled, and is looking to make it right. That doesn't mean his feelings about it should be ignored or mocked. It's not any less worthy than any of our reasons for collecting, or hurt feelings when we lose something from our collection that we value. |

Wow that's frustrating, Naja. As a guy who has memories of my loved one associated with specific figures, I can empathize with you having the figure associated with a great memory "ruined." However, in my experience re-engaging in the chase will not give you the same sense of fulfillment you received with the first find. To quote James Bond: "Indiana, let it go."
Besides, up the ante. You have already found one in the bubble, that isn't truly mint is it?. Wouldn't finding one still in the box with the Air Chariot be the true "Holy Grail?" |

Hey Naja, you can save a search on eBay and they will email you each morning when a new item matching those search terms is listed.
I've got several set up this way and it's really convenient. Best of luck in your hunt!

Well said, and yes, overall this is a hobby... A great one for sure! As much as i am bummed about the yellow neck, it does not effect my daily life. My health, family and career is where my true priorities are. This site is based on a great community that collects Gi Joes. i love the hobby and in my hobby experience, the yellow neck incident (and current chase) is a topic that i often revisit.

I hope you get a chance to have one again Naja; and I'm sure you will. Some things just take more time than others.
Like the Conquest X-30 nose landing gear I've been trying to get since last Spring. |

Then I said to myself screw it, not worth it. Now I'm happier.

On a side note: Naja, are you an active ebayer? There are alerts that can be setup to notify you when something appears (I also have an eBay phone app that's setup for notification). I have searched for a "holy grail" part in another hobby. A few months ago, after 7 years of waiting, an item, I needed to complete a project appeared. Needless to say the alert feature worked and I was able to obtain the item. However, the hunt continues for a few loose end items.
