Yeah, there are some collectors that laughed at me for putting repro antennas on my Mauler... like I could afford the real ones? Yeah right. So to satisfy some random guy's delicate sensibilities, I'm going to have a Mauler or any other vehicle bare instead of complete and awesome looking? No thanks.
Repro cards are terrific and those guys work hard on them, and like all things, they get taken advantage of by cheaters. Happens with all toy lines and hell, even US money. It's not the repro or caster's fault. Do your due diligence. Quote:
He wasn't asking about recarding, he was asking about fakes being sold as the real deal and how wide spread it is.

I think there is a place for repros and they do take a lot of skill. However, the problem I have is when people try to pass off repros as vintage. Now you have a fraud situation and an unwary buyer may not realize it. This happens quite a bit with transformers, where the number of convincing fakes can be alarming.

I absolutly love the custom cards that look vintage but feature characters that never made it out on a card.
I've got Hooded Cobra Commander, Zartan, Claymore, Super Trooper, the Fridge, and a dozen or so more and I love them all. Big props to the talented guys making these unique items that add a lot of fun to my collection. As for the jerks ripping off people on eBay selling repro cards as original: those people suck. |

Is Beggar's Canyon Toys the only ones making and selling these. I've seen a carded Thrasher on E bay and haven't seen that card at Beggar's.Also this knowledge of who's making what repro cards can help you pick out the fakes.
Also, I've thought of ways to display loose figures and this ,to me, seems to be the best way to display them in their full glory. I've just discovered this repro phenomena myself by the way.

There are quite a few making them, some will say "Reproduction" on them, some will not. Beggar's Canyon will ALWAYS put that on their cards.
There was a terrific Frostbite being sold a few weeks back that absolutely beautiful, put the Club's version to shame.
