I still have one point of contention though: two straight arm figures and one swivel arm figure don't add up to be an original set. The MCHQ came with all straight arm in 1982 or all swivel arm in 1983. If he's the second owner, its entirely possible the first owner confused this fact and sold him the wrong mix of figures. |

Generally I'm a completeist too, but I have absolutely no desire to own a cardboard playset. To each his own!

Well for this item you're not paying for the quality of the set construction but the rarity/obscurity. I, myself, would never spend that kind of money on the item either but the cardboard is what makes it so valuable as few original sets have survived this long. I'm more than thrilled with D&J Toy's repro myself but I can understand the compulsion for a complete set. To each his own I supposed.

Hey guys and gals one thing I have been asked about is the fumigated. I bought it like this the guy I bought it from said it was completely as he got it as a kid. He had received it played with it once and stored it for 30 years. He is not a huge joe collector and in fact only had this one set. I'm Well aware of the fact that sets come with one or the other. However this is his story and it seems like a really far stretch for him to replace one figure just to make it complete. Doesn't the possiblity exist that because of the time this came out the figures used could've have overlapped in the swivel arm straight arm switch?. It's really odd I know but there have been examples in other lines like this. Ie early bird lightsabers Star Wars 77, Long tray short tray POTF 95 etc. Maybe it is a replacement figure but again seems like a stretch based on where it came from

Not likely, otherwise we would have seen it in other sets, assortments, etc... memories are a tricky thing.
Not a big deal, though, you just gotta find that one collector that wants it. Or try finding a straight arm CC and swap him for the swivel arm.

This is at the top of my want list right now.
