I have a moc gnawgahyde that i bought online. Pics looked good. When i got it i lightly eye balled it and was happy. I recently looked it over more closely and realized that both elbows are cracked. Can this happen? Or was i ripped off on a recard with busted arms? Any ideas?

As plastics age they become brittle, even the simple act of shipping it can cause the plastic to crack. You weren't scammed it's just old.

Yeah, they're just getting old. I was looking at my vintage Airtight one day, perfectly fine... The next day, cracked elbows.

For some reason I have had quite a few figures like this. Even stored in a climate controlled room. Also it seems like some figures are more prone to this than others. IE I have see a few Repeaters all with right elbows cracked I have one, a local hobby shop has two the same way.

The 1988-89 series are very prone to doing this. MANY carded examples are like this. If you are ever unsure about one for sale ask the seller.

Pretty much all of my vintage stuff has done this. I am sure it has a lot to do with the metal rivets used. Mine were in storage and the temperature fluctuations over time caused the metal to expand and contract enough to snap the plastic.

sad truth.. as they get older. they do become more valuable. however.. as with everything... valued or not..nothing lasts forever. I've got a few myself also like this.. nothing you can really do about it. loose figures are easier to use baby oil on, which tightens joints, and does renforce them a bit too.
