I feel the same, the only time I repaint anything in my collection is if I've bought something that was already painted before such as my Flagg or if I have something where the plastic is so badly stressed and marred that it's un restorable. I'm currently working on a Killer Whale with that exact issue. I really liked the colors used by my Terror Drome's previous owner and I could tell in the auction that the paint job was very well done too. I actually contacted him to find out what brand and colors of paint he used incase I ever need to replace something and need to paint it to match. He told me he didn't know because he had a friend give it a professional paint job.

I rolled the dice a couple of years ago and spent about $350 on a terror drome from Canada. It was mostly sealed in bags, but one or two of the bags had been torn open. The seller only said that all the bags are sealed except one or two (of the eight or so it came with) and that he was unaware of any missing parts. I took a gamble. When it arrived, I fulfilled a 20 year dream of getting that terror drome.
I had wanted one as a kid, and asked my parents for it repeatedly as the Christmas of 1987 approached. Well, somehow they went to the store and came back with a mobile command center. I was more than a little bit disappointed on Christmas morning, I didn't let it show, but I was disappointed. Well, 20 years later my mostly sealed terror drome arrived! I took well over an hour un-bagging and putting that thing together. It felt like Christmas morning. It was awesome. It turns out all that was missing was one of the hoses for the gas pump, and of course the driver, AVAC. I picked those two things up at the local hobby shop and now I'm the proud owner of a complete terror drome. You guys can check it out of on 3DJoes: Cobra Terror Drome - 3DJOES |

I got mine off ebay a few months ago, about 90% complete, shipped from CA to NJ, for $202 total. It was missing the Firebat and pilot, but i was able to pick up the ME ones loose right away locally. Other than that, i need one gun cap, 2 of the post chairs, and a left gun door with good tabs and a kickstand, but no gun seat / platform / gun (for which i have a minty right side one, complete with kickstand to trade for a left one. anyone??) Growing up i had the Flagg (still do, 95% complete), the TBP and the MCC (again, still do, TBP complete, MCC needs a bunch), but never saw a Terrordrome in person. Since getting mine, i also picked up the original 83 HQ, again, almost complete for $65 locally. The only big one from my era (the end of it) would be the Defiant. Maybe someday when all my other ones are complete. Anything i display is with ME figs.

Just discovered this thread. It really makes me want to get my TD out of storage at my parents house, but what little space i have at my house is currently taken by my kids' (both toddlers) stuff. I'll have to wait a few years to "gift" it to them.

I have a Terrordrome that I purchased years ago from a young man and I was so excited to find it that I didn't actually realize that it was partially yellowed from spending some time outdoors in the sun. I'm not absolutely certain of this but, the young man (early twenties ?) may have been slightly mentally challenged. I got what I think was a great deal on it though because I really didn't pay too much for it. Now, before you accuse me of taking advantage...he was eager to selling and I was eager to buying. Besides, both his parents were there so...yeah. He just wanted to get rid of the stuff. I was only interested in the Terrordrome at the time and wasn't very familiar with the 3 3/4" line but, I probably could have made a killing if I had wanted to. No word of a lie, the entire basement it seemed was G.I. Joes and G.I. Joe vehicles. This young man had what seemed like everything under the sun G.I. Joe related. He kept pushing me to buy more things so, I bought like ten loose figures and a couple of planes and I think one of those small quads. He was happy, I was happy. It was a good day. My Terrordrome is still missing a few things, mostly all the missiles and machine guns from the Firebat. I've decided to just leave it as-is for now.

Now that I have a Flagg, I think this one is next on my "big toy" hit list. A Defiant would be much harder to acquire.

My first Terror Drome is due to arrive on Wednesday. I hope it makes it without being broken. Never had it as a kid and don't really remember wanting it as badly as I wanted the Flagg. Can't wait to get it now though!
