I have a vintage Dragonfly, but the propellars are warped. Is there a way to get them to stay up or is this just something that is unfixable. Also, does anyone know if there is a way to replace the blades on the DF?...Thanks...

Yes, this is a problem that Viper and I both need solved. My Dragonfly has the warped propellers also; not as bad as the one in this photo, but you see the general idea as to the warping we speak of.

Warped or drooped. My original dragon fly always had droopy rotors. This is not a bad thing as real chopper blades also droop. I wouldn't worry about it.
Now mine do not warp as bad at the photo above. You could try heating them in hot water and letting them cool on a flat surface. |

Best way to fix it is to bind the propellers between flat surfaces like rulers. Twistie tie the rulers to the blades so they're straight. Put the blades under hot running water for a minute or too. Better if you can get a tupperware bowl or baking sheet big enough to poor boiling water into and dip the blades into it for a minute or two. When the blades have heated up sufficiently dunk them in cold water. I'd fill a sink with cold water and dump a bunch of ice cubes into it for even better results. The hot blades hitting the ice cold water will shock the plastic and lock it into the new shape. I use this method all the time on action figures, especially Wolverine claws and swords.

Aren't the blades on the Fly the same hard plastic as the ones on the Tomahawk?
If they are i don't think that boil/cold method would be a good idea. |

Try fluffing it or Viagra.
Just kidding. Take 2 rulers. run blades under super hot water. Then attach the rulers. Use small pieces of tape so the blades are not damaged. once attached put the helicopter in the freezer. This will cause the plastic to shrink. Time is an issue and the faster you attach the blades to a straight surface after the blades are hot the better. You can do this over and over and I found that the closer the ruler is cut to match the distance exactly between the small pieces of the end the better. |
