I started collecting vintage in 1997 but was forced to put it on hold in 08, when they simply became too expensive. The first vintage purchases in years for me came in 2012, when I got the Gold Head Steel Brigade fig I was looking for on ebay and I picked up vintage Baroness and the WHALE at NOLA Con. Now, I have decided to start my ARAH hunt again. What about you? When did you pause or halt your pursuit of ARAH and why?

Hoping to get lucky as a teenager and the Navy, in that order. Now I'm married to a great woman that loves to see me get excited for the little plastic crack, lol. Its great to have a supportive other half.

Grew out of toys in 1988...only to be drawn back in again when the new Star Wars figures came out in the mid 90s.

Nintendo and TMNT lured me away in the late 80s... but I was never away for long.

^^^Similar for me, except for the tmnt part. I got into Joes around the same time I started skateboarding, around 84'. By 88'-89' I wasn't really into toys anymore as skating was my life. Nintendo was also big for me. I will say, too, that the Joes that were coming out at that time were not looking good to me. Although I did buy Salvo long after I retired from Joes, because I thought he was pretty cool. After that I didn't buy a new Joe until the 25th.

I never really stopped. I stopped buying vehicles mostly after 1987. But I kept buying figures through 1994 and into the present. Flag points and Hasbro Direct helped with anything else I wanted through 1994. I bought Sgt. Savage, passed on Extreme, and restarted with TRU. I got into 12 inch in 1996. I have almost every figure and all vehicles from 1982-1986 except fro Sears Exclusives.

One day I realized I'm 39 years old, have no kids, and I am buying freaking toys! I didn't want to be one of those guys so I called it quits.
Soooooo much happier with my life now.

I stopped in 1989-90 . I started collecting again with SW in 96 till 2002. then nothing really till the 25th joes. I took a break with the ROC line and picked it up again with the POC and 30th. as for ARAH stuff: I had most of my collection from back in the day. I picked up a few things and traded or sold some stuff. not till this summer did I really start "collecting" again. so, for ARAH , the break time has been from 1990 till 2013. only about 23 years.

I hadnt really stopped. I dont buy as much vintage now as i used to i am starting to run out of room to keep everything. When you have a wife and 4 kids the collecting starts to go to the bottom of the list of stuff to spend money on.

Forced by my dad to stop in 1990-91, plus feeling the need to "grow up" and getting into CDs/music.
