For all of you Navy experts, riddle me this: I'm watching a military channel show on aircraft carriers, and every carrier shown has the huge ship numbers on the runway painted so that they face the bridge. On the FLAGG, the big numbers face away so that they read correctly when the ship is viewed head-on. Did hasbro just screw this up, or is there a logical scenario where the FLAGG numbers are correct?
I'm going to rebuild a flagg I just bought, including new decals, and I'm trying to decide if I should put the numbers on the hasbro way or what appears to be the correct way. It would be nice if those were the same way, but I'm thinking not.

66 or 99 you decide. All the stickers could be flipped couldn't they?

It was simply a mistake
The hull classification symbol of this ship is often mistakenly identified as CV-66, but is actually CV-99, as based on the artwork on the box and the instructions for the toy, which call for the numbers on the command tower to be placed as 99. The numbers on the deck are upside down based on true configuration of the active carriers for the U.S. Navy. Small errors exist like this with-in the G.I. Joe toy line due to cost of hiring experts or researchers was unnecessary when "close enough" is, more often than not, acceptable in toy lines.

Its a toy, I think the box art was done for the benefit of a non-military public. Real world numbers do face the bridge just like you saw on TV. In the end its your toy, put them on however you want.

The numbers face the bridge so the pilots coming in can see the numbers on the deck.
